Chapter 2

"Yo-You were awake?!" - Kiera

"I just woke up." -  Erez

He rubbed his eyes as he teasingly smiled at me. He looked at me and I turned away to avoid his gaze.

I looked outside at the scenery. 

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" - Kiera

"Yes... the most beautiful in the world..." - Erez

I turned to look at him as I thought he'd be looking outside but.... he was looking at me....

So... When he said 'beautiful' did he mean...

"The moon is really beautiful tonight, isn't it?" - Erez

My breath hitched and my heart was pounding.

He leaned in close and I leaned in too. Eyes closing. Just a few millimeters apart.

"My lady! We have arrived!" - Coachman

My eyes opened and I jumped back, my back hitting the window behind me as I covered my mouth with my hands as a blush took over my face.

Erez too seemed surprised and kinda embarrassed as he looked away with a small blush on his face.

The carriage came to a stop. 

"My lady?" - Coachman 

"Ah yes! We'll be right out!" - Kiera

Erez got off the carriage and held out a hand for me. I gratefully took his hand and let him escort me.

We have reached a small village.

I asked the coachman to go back home because we didn't want to raise any suspicion for 'Cosette' to come and find us.

Erez put a spell on the coachman that would make him forget about everything that happened here, after he reached the duchy.

Even though Erez had gotten weaker, he could still perform some spells.

The difference was that now it'd take a lot of time for him to replenish his mana and that it would take a huge toll on his body.

According to Cosette, I can heal him when I will be able to summon spirits.

I have to help Erez. He was always there for me. Now it's my turn.

We walk towards the town when we suddenly hear a voice call out to us.

"Hey...! What are you doing here so late at night?!" - ???

It was a man who looked very sick. He looked like he had a very weak body as he walked towards us.

The man had red hair and red eyes. He looked a lot like Erez. He looked at both of us shocked for some reason.

"Sir are you alright?" - Erez

"Yes I am fine. Who are you?" - ???

"I am Kiera and this is Erez." - Kiera

"We are looking for an inn to stay overnight. Now if you'll please excuse us we shall be on our way." - Erez

"Wai-Wait don't leave! You can stay at my house! Please!" - ???

The man was practically begging us to stay at his house. I didn't sense any ulterior motives from him so we agreed to stay.

The man introduced himself as Sumihiko ( I don't remember if there is any other character in demon slayer named Sumihiko or not so let's keep this as his name alright?) Kamado.

I was curious so I asked him why he wanted us to stay at his house.

He said that he lost his pregnant wife, and son to a disease. He stated that Erez looked his son and I looked like his wife. He said that he always wanted a daughter who would resemble his late wife.

"Looking at you both made me realize that maybe if my children were alive, they would look like the two of you. I was devastated after losing them. Many men tried to wed their daughters to me after that but I vowed that I would never love anyone that wasn't Kieko (his wife)." - Sumihiko

He paused for a moment before changing the subject. 

"The two of you don't seem to be from around here. Tell me, where are the two of you from?" - Sumihiko

"Umm... We are from * empire name * ( Can anyone please tell me the name of the empire? I don't know the name.😅).  - Kiera

"Hmm... No wonder your names sound unusual. The two of you are running away aren't you?" - Sumihiko

"H-How did you know that?!" - Kiera

"Hahaha! I have lot of experience in life child. I have seen a lot of couples run away from home because their family didn't approve of their relationship!" - Sumihiko

Couples?!

I blushed fiercely once again while Erez sniggered.

"Hahaha! But don't worry! Though I may not look like it, I'm quite the romantic! I will help the two of you! But to do that you have to change your names to Japanese ones first. Hmm... Let's see... Since your name is Kiera we can just shorten it to Kie!" - Sumihiko

Kie....

For some reason I feel like a spy! Changing my name and all of this!

"And for you.. Do you mind if I name you after my late son?" - Sumihiko

Erez smiled at him.
"Not at all." - Erez

The man seemed relieved. He smiled and then spoke in a calm, nostalgic voice.

"Tanjuro Kamado. That shall be your name." - Sumihiko
