"Amber please! Just this one shift?"
Amber sighs as she pinches the bridge of her nose. Apparently, her best friend promised to attend class party and coincidentally forgot about her part-time shift later. She gets on her knees and begs her to say yes.
She's never said no to anyone, not even to her own best friend.
Hesitantly, Amber agrees.
"Oh my god, thank you so so much! Now here's what you need to do..."

6:00pm sharp...the start of her shift AND the party. Ivy, her best friend, works at a nearby coffee shop to gain extra income for personal spending. Amber too has a part-time job, though done online as a freelance writer.
Customers come and go and come and go. She loses track of time as each order comes through the cash register-
"We...are...over!"

Glancing beyond the counter, she spots the source of the commotion: a brutal breakup. The girl is visibly furious, huffing aggressively as she clenches the glass. The guy in front of her is drenched in water but seems unfazed.
She slaps him across his face and storms off...wait did she return the glass?
Concerned, Amber heads over and offers him a paper towel and calls in a fellow employee to clean up the mess. The man apologizes to her for everything, but she shrugs it off, saying that breakups are bound to get messy...quite literally.
Just as she heads back, he grabs her wrist and introduces himself:
"Otis...can I have your number, Amber?"
"What the fuck?"
