The Boy Next Door...- A George Shelley Fan Fiction: Chapter 2

I slammed the door of my house, storming up the stairs and into my room, slamming that door as well. An hour and a half stuck in a room with George Shelley and the most boring teacher in the world is literally hell. I chucked my bag onto the floor before throwing myself onto my bed and groaning, I lay there for moment, looking around my poster covered room, why is High School full of stuck up brats who think they own the place? I sat up and pulled off my jacket, kicking off my shoes and walking over to my CD shelf that covered the majority of one of my walls, my CD collection is probably one of the things I’m most proud of, that sounded really sad didn’t it? Oh well. I ran my finger along the plastic cases, trying to pick one to pick one to listen to. I had just pulled out an old Muse album when Mum called me from downstairs

“Maddie, the Shelley’s are coming over for dinner!” she shouted

I groaned “When was this arranged?” I called back, walking out of my room and to the top of the stairs

“Just now,” she told me, standing on the bottom step “over the phone.”

I rolled my eyes “Can I just go out or something?” I asked, I don’t think I could stand being stuck across the table from George, plus they’d expect me to socialize with him since he’s the same age as me

Mum glared at me “Madison Oliver, can you please just be sociable for once in your life and not sit up in your room listening to those weird bands?” she said, annoyance lacing her voice

I sighed “But…” I started

She cut me off “No buts Maddie, you’re staying and you’re going to be nice to the Shelley’s and that’s final.” And with that she turned on her heel and walked back into the kitchen, leaving me stood at the top of the stairs and absolutely dreading dinner tonight.

George’s P.O.V

I looked up from my computer and the first thing I saw was her, sat on her bed, strumming the guitar she played every day without fail. Something about Madison Oliver had always intrigued me, and I knew that made me sound like a creep, I mean you would probably think I’m a creep if you saw me watching her from my bedroom every day but I don’t watch her in that way, that would just be weird. I’m fascinated by her, how she doesn’t care what anybody thinks of her, I kind of admire her for that because I act like a complete and utter dick just so I can be considered ‘cool’ and ‘popular’ which makes me sound pathetic and to be honest I probably am, acting the way I do just so I can have friends, it’s pretty ridiculous. I don’t know why I’m such a twat towards her, I wish I wasn’t, but I guess I kind of have to be, there’s too many pressures in High School and I care way too much about what people think of me.

We were having dinner at their house tonight and I was actually looking forward to it, I wouldn’t have to be such a dick towards her because people would be watching. But I did have to do this stupid bet I had made with my best friend Josh…

----Flasback: Earlier that day, at lunch----

“Hey George!” Josh called to me as I walked to our usual table in the canteen

“Hey Guys.” I greeted all of our table as I sat down, smiling at them

“You know that weird girl who’s your neighbour?” Josh asked me, raising an eyebrow and tilting his head in the direction of Madison, who was sat by herself, eating and headphones in as usual

“Yeh, what about her?” I replied, suspicious, what was he planning now?

“I bet you two hundred quid I can get her to fall in love with me, and admit it, before you.” He said, a small smirk playing across his lips
