<"Okay yes or no questions. Let's start with something simple. Are you royalty?">

I shake my head.
I'm just a duke's daughter if anything.

<"Then a noble?">

I nod back to him.
I motioned to him to ask him the same.
I'm not sure if dragons have noble lines to them, but this is another world right?

<"Me? Oh, um...I dunn- I mean, I don't know.">

He doesn't know?
Well, I guess that's fair given he's not exactly an adult dragon.

I spin a finger around and point to him again to continue.
He hesitated for a second before continuing <"I don't even know who my parents are.">

Urk.
What a heavy topic.

"Let's move on." I say trying to urge him to change the topic while waving my hand in front.

He looked back up at me.

<"Do you live here?">

That's a strange question, but I nod nonetheless.

<"Can you fight?">

Another odd question.
Is he looking to fight me?
I can use a sword and spells so I can fight to some degree, so I nod in response.

<"Can you use magic?">

I nod again.

<"Tsk.">

He clicked his tongue.
Sorry to disappoint but yes, I can use magic.
Wait, could it be...
I motion for his response

<"I can fight, but magic...I can't use it.">

I guess not all dragons can use magic then.

<"What are you grinning about?">

"Eh?" I felt my face but found myself not smiling in the slightest.
He growls a bit off to the side, most likely annoyed.
Did I do something to anger him?
He glances back at me before coughing to...clear his throat?

<"Do you have a blessing?">

And another topic from out of nowhere.
Also, when he asked, it sounded almost as if he was forced to.
I did get a small glimpse of his skills and saw a skill with a name like that.

「Wind Blessing」

Come to think of it, I have a skill with blessing in its name as well.

「Xenialcoatl's Blessing」

I tried looking around for the name Xenialcoatl, but I couldn't find anything about them.
Still to answer the question I nod.

<"You do!? Then, do you know what a blessing is?">

As far as blessings themselves are concerned I know little about them.
I know that they're a special kind of skill that affects other skills, but not how they appear or what they do.
So for the answer I flipped my hand back and forth to say so-so, then shook my head for no.

The dragon is silent for a bit before raising his claw up slowly and then bringing it down in front of him suddenly.

He clicks his tongue again before looking off to the side.

<"Missed again.> I hear him mutter.

I'm starting to understand this dragon a bit.
He's intelligent and crafty, but also ignorant.
He knows quite a lot but doesn't know what to do with it.
High intelligence and low wisdom.
In a sense we're similar.
I can't say by how much, but it seems we're in roughly the same...situation...
Could he--?

<"Okay, you can use wind magic right?">

I'm snapped back to reality by his question and nod.
Back to magic again.

<"Can you use it right now?">

He wants to see my magic?
I wonder why?
Well, I guess he said before that he couldn't use it so, out of curiosity?
I give him a smile before holding up my hand.

"Wind."

After I say this wind starts to gather and circle in the palm of my hand.
It's just a small gust but it's enough for basic uses and magic control.
He stares intently at me, or more like at my hand and wrist.
He gave a couple growls and even put his claw up on my wrist to get a closer look.

By the way, his claws are adorable.
Sure, they're large, like his black nails for example, but they have this cute, rounded appearance to them and have a nice sheen to them.
Even though they are dangerous he's also careful with them and they don't seem all that sharp.
They even contrast his white fur well.
Smooth black claws on soft white fur.
I really have this urge to pet him now.
Would he let me get a couple pets along his back, I wonder?

I turn back to his gaze and see him staring at me with this unamused look.

<"...">

I look away and chuckle softly.

<"...I'm not letting you pet me."> he says bluntly.

"Huh!?"
Was it so obvious?

<"I know that look. You look just like my siblings when food is set in front of them."> he says letting my hand go as the spell ends.

His siblings.
So, he has siblings
Judging from his statement and what sis told me, he has caretakers as well.
They must've fought to protect him and his siblings but...he still got caught.
I know this is for the sake of our kingdom, but do we really need to go so far?
As far as I know, we're not at war and there's no sign of any impending dangers, so why do we need a dragon?
Was there a reason to separate him from his family?
I just don't understand.
Even if I wanted to release him, I don't have enough strength or influence to do so.
Even coming here by myself was trouble enough.

"I'm sorry."

I didn't do anything to him myself, but regardless I'm part of the ones who did this to him.
If no one will apologize for all that he went through, for all he's going through, I feel it should at least be me.
I pick up the tray and stand myself up.

Really, I feel so useless.
As I turned to the cage door I heard the dragon speak up.

< "Don't be upset.">

I turn to see him laying down on the stone floor and making himself comfortable. <"You're not to blame for this, so don't feel guilty.">

his blue eyes peeking over at me before he closed them with a yawn and laid his head down to presumably go to sleep.

Hearing him say such a thing made me smile a bit.

"Sorry...and thanks."

And with that I close the door behind me and leave.
