A young boy wandered into to the temple of the Wise, a place that the village sage lived. The village sage was a kooky old man to most, but that didn't stop the young boy from loving his stories of the old world. The old man looked at the young boy with a smile, and sat down on the bench in the room that they were in.

"What is it young one" the sage asked.

"I was wondering, why do we hate the magic".

"Oh, that is a very interesting story, sit down, and I will explain why most hate the magic". The young boy sat down, and the sage started his story.

A long time ago, when the world was divided in more that just two, five lands were at the brink of war with each other. A lone man of the land of frozen mud, saw the signs of this war, and wanted to stop it before it could start.

He looked through old ruins, caves and temples, but all gave him nothing that would be helpful for his quest. He was going to give up, but a small part of his mind told him that he must continue, so he went to the last temple that he could find. An old temple that belonged to a long dead group at that point.

The outside of the temple just looked like all the previous ones that he looked through, but the inside was much different. It was dim, the torches were lit up with some strange red stone, there were carvings of people battling against dragons and death worms. The last thing was a pedestal, and on that pedestal was a strange gem that pulsed with a strange force, the gem was blue in color, and as he picked it up, he felt that it like some dye of some sorts, but as soon as the gem left the pedestal, a light that was as bright as the sun blew through the top of the temple.

The ground shook, and magic came into the world. Most people hated it, and very few liked the change. Those that hated it, hunted down anything that wasn't their normal.

The few people that liked the change, asked the gods for help to stop the madness, and they were blessed to become creatures of the night. Many saw those people as cursed, as they casted the night walkers out of the few villages that were left.

"To this day, the two sides fight with each other, as they believe that their side is right" the old man said, finishing the story. The boy looked at him, instead of disgust that most kids had with the story, he was just confused.

"But who are the creatures of the night?".

"That is a story for another day, now run along, you can't keep your mother waiting".
