The next day in school, Ashton sat with Aurora at lunch.

Aurora didn't sit with anyone. She didn't have any friends to sit with. She had a friend once, but her friend thought she was weird for having a weird obsession with Ashton (which she didn't, for the record).

Ashton's friends laughed at him when they saw him eating with a loser. Ashton ignored them smugly. He would show them.

They talked about the movie. Ashton said it was his favorite movie, but Aurora only paid attention to the way his eyes lit up when he talked about something he liked. She wanted his eyes to look like that when he talked about her.

He asked if she liked the movie, and she said she liked it too. But she didn't pay attention to the movie. She was too conscious of his arm around her and the smell of his sweet cologne up her nostrils.

Then he invited her to go to the movies with him on Friday. She said yes, and that she couldn't wait.

She just wanted to stare at him instead of the movie, because he was beautiful and far more interesting than any arrangement of colors on a screen.
