It didn't take long for you to return to Centaurworld. Looking back and forth for that one handsome and perfectly proportionate centaur in a world of wacky character designs, you eventually found him pretty easy, he’s resting his head on the wood railing of a pier.
"Hey," you greet the elktaur, earning a glint of recognition in his eyes.

"Oh hey, you're that traveler from yesterday. How are you doing after that fainting spell?" he asks kindly.

You shrink into your shoulders, feeling embarrassed all over again. "I'm doing better, thanks for asking. What about you? I can imagine working on the rift is hard work." you lean your elbows on the wooden railing, overlooking the lovely ocean view.

"The rift itself isn't that troublesome, machinery is easy to understand after working it on for some time, the people walking though it however. Not as much." Elktaur rolls his eyes slightly. Your memory went back to the human worker who said centaurs stink, which is partially true, but it's still rude to say out loud.

"Ugh, tell me about it. I wonder how long it takes for those sucker to post my pictures on chat forums." a loud groan escapes past your lips.
The elktaur tries to hold back a chuckle. "If it makes you feel any better, I hear you're trending- it even inspired a dance."

Ah, 15 minutes of fame on centaur-social media. Reminds you of home. "Wow, guess that means I'm famous now," you joke. "Care for an autograph?" was your automatic attempt at humor, but you thought he wouldn't catch your drift just like the rest.

That's why hearing him chuckle made it feel all the more special. "Oh, I'm honored~" he playfully bows at you.
This brought a smile to your face, it helped you forget your troubles momentarily, just chilling there with a new friend. “Maybe we could-” you start, but the shared moment is interrupted by a gopher-taur with a corn dog. Guskin, who you assume is his boss, called out to the elk to get back to work. Earning a frown from the centaur beside you, but it wasn't to deep compared to when you first saw him.
"Guess I'll see you around." the elktaur bids you goodbye, but considering the importance of your mission, this isn't the last you'll see of him.

“Don’t worry, you’re not missing much.” The woman with lavender hair shrugs nonchalantly, coquettishly pushing back a strand behind her ear.

“But you’re there, and you’re awesome.” The elk drops casually, looking away as a tender blush spreads on his face.

“Smooth.” You continue to spy on elktaur from behind a stack of barrels, however this time you’re joined in by the opossum-taur as your copilot. “What are we looking at?” they ask slightly intrigued.

“What we're looking at my dear trashtaur, is one of literatures all time classics, star-crossed lovers from different worlds," you sigh. "But spoiler alert, the one with the horns fucks up big time, and it's our job to make sure that doesn't happen!"

"Our?" the trashtaur talks with a full mouth, already pulling out a half-eaten burger from God knows where.

"Okay okay, my job specifically. You can just strap on from the audience perspective if ya like, as long as you let me stay in your alleyway." you nonchalantly wave a hand at the opossum, switching back your viewpoint to the two lovebirds talking to each other. But the trashtaur adds their own two cents.

"And how are you gonna hitch em up?"

"Ah," it's like you walked straight into a wall. "I have no idea."

It's the end of another day at the rift, but this time Elktaur is left lovestruck like a high school boy, practically skipping with each step he takes. Meanwhile you're jumping over crates, barrels and anything in between as you try to keep up with Elktaur's pace whilst trying to remain hidden.
