I was always alone as a child. No family. No one... so I lived about but always left before I got attached to anything. By the time I was 18 I had been to hundreds of villages. Many blank stares and rude remarks from the people. Many wanting my friendship to be met with a stoic face and a no. I always stopped myself from getting attached.

...drip, drip, drip...

She took my breath away. The way her hair danced in the wind, spinning and floating about, the way her hazel eyes pierced my soul. I saw her around town once or twice and it was obvious that everyone loves her... But... the day I met her was under the decrepit cherry blossom tree. When she spoke, she told me her name,

"I'm Lilith"

"Makes sense that a beautiful girl has a name to match",

I replied...

And that small conversation lasted until the small hours of the night laughing and joking around, waking the neighbours. I remember being screamed at by old man bill while running in the streets and Lilith slipped and fell dragging me down too. The next day she sat with me and we were forced to wash the clothes and dishes of the people we woke. We ended up soaked in water and bubbles, with a few broken plates.

From then on, we met at the decrepit tree everyday dancing about and making jokes. And weeks turned into months until it hit me...

...I love her...

...So, I asked her to the town's winter dance, and by the end of the night she allowed me to call her mine. We were from then forth called the beautiful couple, everyone staring at us, no her, wherever we went, laughing and dancing.

Until all was good till, I met her father. The towns own 'sour old priest', was the kind of man that ran a town with his beliefs and if you didn't match them or have his respect, you were nothing. A no name. A bug. A speck of dust. An atom. I greeted him with a big smile and welcomed them into my cottage. And by the end of the night, I was that no name. She didn't care. She promised to run away with me so we could live our dream life, because she was in love with me, and I told her that I love her. I still do love her...

...no wait I loved her once.

...drip, drip, drip...

She is the reason I hear the relentless dripping. Every day I wake up to it. I eat hearing it. Sleep hearing it. Cry hearing it. That sound drives me crazy, hearing rain hitting the prison floor. It was her fault. And mine as well. I was naïve. blinded. lied to. Tricked. Deceived.

...drip, drip, drip...

Under the decrepit cherry blossom, I was reading a tale of a man who died crying. DRIP. A spot of blood hit the page. I nearly fainted. She asked for help and told me that it wasn't her fault.

So, I helped her clean the blood from her hands. I didn't ask what happened to her hands. She seemed disturbed. When we finished cleaning her hands, she told me to pack and leave that evening. I packed but she was asleep when I went to get her, so we slept in my old cottage. That morning we were awoken by a crash on the door. The constable grabbed me and told me that I was going to rot in a cell till the day I died.

...drip, drip, drip...

It has been 9 years since I last saw her, I was dragged off like a common thief. They blamed me for stealing something valuable from the 'sour old priest'. Nothing tangible, it was worth more than a gold coin or silver piece. His life. But I had done nothing like that because I can barely look at blood. It was her fault. She used me like a scapegoat for her cruel crimes. She blamed me for killing her father. I saw her before I was arrested she looked so innocent, like she had fallen and scraped her hands.

I wish I had stayed cold as ice, so I didn't have my life ripped appart like wolves to a sheep.

...drip, drip, dri-

There is a presence in front of me. I know that. I won't turn though. I haven't spoken to anyone since that day. I refuse. That is until I heard that sickeningly sweet voice. I wanted to severe my ears. It was her.

"Hey love..."

"...Lilith matches you, with it meaning demon..."

I am always alone.
