My name is... well let's just say I'm Shira. Im a junior in high school and I'd like to think my life was pretty ordinary. No one expected them...those..things to come. There are many theories on how it started. Some say scientists released a virus thinking it was a vaccine while others say that an animal had an unknown disease that was insanely contagious even amongst human. Speaking of humans, its hard to tell what's human and what's not. During the day you can see people scavenging and fighting for resources, but at night is where the terror begins. If you happen to be outside at night then best of luck. Not that being inside is any better. We call them the Zae'd. Why? Because it sounds like something that's not meant to be. The types range wide and far. From the basic type who want to eat you to types who thrive on your torment and despair. There are 5 classes to determine a Zae'ds threat. 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest. 4 and 5 are rare so if you encounter them you have shit luck. It sounds cruel, but the only way to identify it's class is to watch it kill someone else. A class one will just instantly devour the corpse while a higher class will wait for the victim's companions. I'll tell you this now: LEVELS ARE LIES. If not then every Zae'd is a level 5. They grow and learn just like humans. It's terrifying. There's so much you have to be ready for. The main thing is killing. If you want to survive killing others is ultimately inevitable. Whether it's for supplies or out of fear. It's cliche but it's kill or be killed. Humans or the Zae'd, you need to learn to how to kill both. Humans are the easiest to kill since they have emotions, unless you can be completely empty then you can be killed. Humans tend to act on impulse in a tight situation rather than to give it any other thought. So here's a thought: since they don't hesitate, you shouldn't either. You're only thought should be how to survive until tomorrow. The chances of someone working on a cure is slim to shit and even if there were a cure...how would we be able to get it across the entire world?
