****Simon's quote, " I love you with a burning passion" to Isabelle Lightwood
I was nervous to get to Manhattan, New York, where "probably" Isabelle expected me; knowing her she either read the letter or not because it has been a while since our last 2 year conversation.
Being 17 was a new experienced, since I recalled, trying to remember, my never aging experience as a vampire.
"Are you ready," Aline Penhallow said as she snapped my attention to reality. The portal was ready and opened, I saw the blue liquid swirls of it, I tried imagining Manhattan. Seeing the skyscrapers, the bridge, and the dazzling lights at night, thats what I remember as a human. "Simon," she said in a friendly tone, "are you sure you want to go back, you haven't finished training?" I looked at her, remembering her dark hair and eyes, kind of resembling Isabelle. Although there was difference amongst them. Izzy had eyes that seem to take in the stars, no offense to Aline.
"Don't worry, but thanks for everything, thanks for helping me train." I said it with honesty, the Penhallows helped me a lot. They took me in training. I would've stayed in the institute, but I couldn't, the Counsul had told me that I require training in Idris, since my recent knowing of the existence of shadowhunters, as a human, first of all. Then becoming a vampire and drinking blood from a shadowhunter, Jace, as they recently found out, and they put distance between me and Isabelle, unfortunately.
They told me in Latin, "Sed Lex Dura Lex," in English, "The Law Is Hard But It Is The Law." I've heard it a thousand times, but I was committed in being a shadowhunter, even with the law stabbing at me with every sin made.
I entered, looking one last time at the glass-like city of Idris, the city looked ancient but in a beautiful way.
I sucked in breath, being taken by the portal, I still wasn't use to the feeling of my stomach being swirled around. When I blinked, I realized I was falling and as I prepared for the ground, I had hit a tree branch, and snapped it like a slim-jim. That caused me to keep falling from branch to branch, landing on the ground, face on. Lying on my stomach I tried breathing, and I put my head up coughing off dirt from my mouth and face. I had a few scrapes, cuts, and bruises, but it was nothing that the steel could heal. As I put an iratze(healing rune), I looked up to see how high the tree was. The tree was an Oak, and it now had thorn limbs, it was about 36 feet tall. I would've died landing on the ground, so, "thanks majestic tree."
It was dawn since my fall, but it turned dark as I walked inside Central Park, where the Oak tree was. I heard shouts as I walked in my glamour, that I decided to put on after the iratze. I followed the people that were running for their lives it seemed to be.
Daggers ready, bow in my hands, the smooth and strong mechanics of its structure, arrows packed in my back, and the seraph blade, Israfel, ready to be engulfed into its angelic light. I saw and helped most people that ran from the raveners. The scene was strange, the demons had no interest in the mundanes but only seemed to attack and look, causing no death, hey I didn't say they wouldn't hurt people.
Even so, my duty as a shadowhunter was to extinguish demons from this earth to their hell. I killed from one to two to three. Some were dumb enough to stab themselves in the head and die from the poison effects, suicidal. They weren't hard to kill, but I mean I've been trained in Idris. Not bragging or anything.
I knew I had heard the wails of the sirens, but I kept fighting the demons, protecting the mundanes, as they looked confused as to why the demons, to their image looked like dogs, were fighting against "something that wasn't even there," that something was myself of course. It was pretty hysterical by the way they run dumbfounded. But I myself use to be that way, so I understood why shadowhunters laughed at them.
To my own surprise I met Jace and Alec, who happened to be at the scene of "horror"(sarcastic). They saw me, surprised as well as I was. Jace looked the same, except his curly gold locks were longer, and Alec's jet-black, and straight hair was long too, he almost looked like an emo angel. Both looked like real men, Jace being 19 and Alec being 20.
"Simon long time since I last saw you at the wedding," Jace had said reminding me of Clary and Jace's ceromony a year ago. Maybe he hasn't changed at all. "Yeah it has been long," (so awkward). "You guys are forgetting there are demons loose," Alec said responsibly as always, "but it's nice to have you back." "I guess will chat later, but now it's time to demolish these demons," Jace said darkly with a sympathized smirk on his face, the usual.
I saw Clary approach us, before, we could have our first killed like the three musketeers, wow I still act like a mundane. She was small but grew a few inches, still red, and freckled Clary was more slender at 17 years old; I missed her, she was and still is my best friend....Isabelle...she wasn't near sight. "So...it was...you guys, wait Simon?" She said breathing heavily it seems, probably going after Alec and Jace. "Clary, what's happening... " I asked until, "WHERE'S ISABELLE?," the three of us,"men," asked at the same time. "Hey, wait, why didn't you ask us 'what's happening?'," Jace asked me accusingly. "Jace we don't have time for this," Alec said touching his fingers on the temple of his head, frustrated. "Alec's right, we need to find My Izzy", without realizing I said "my"!
They all turn to look at me after they stopped walking ahead of me. "What?" I said with a blush creeping up. Clary smiled in understanding, Alec looked over protective, and Jace looked like a Jace, just with a dirty smirk. "Can we just go look for her," I said turning way from their gazes. As I did so, in the darkness of night, we all heard what sounded like a laugh of mischief. Without realizing that I was already sprinting towards where the noise came from. It had to be Isabelle, that laugh was female like, and she would laugh in battle, anyways. There was shouting behind me but I was sucked in by the darkness.
