She heard the call disconnect on the other end, groaning loudly in frustration before tossing her phone to the other side of her bed.

Kicking her legs over the side of the bed, she sighed when there was a knock on her door.

"Yeah?"

Her mother poked her head through the slightly cracked door. "Everything okay?"

Lydia let out another groan, wiping away a few stray tears. "Why are men so fucking.... Ugh! Bossy? Rude? Demanding? I don't even know! He ditched me again and now he's blowing up my phone and telling me to come downstairs. I waited for him until 9:30! I just wanna go to bed now."

Her mother smiled, securing her robe tighter to her body and taking a seat next to Lydia on her bed. "Because in their own weird little way, they love us."

She rolled her eyes, resting her head against her mothers shoulder. "He could love me without threatening to drag me out of here."

Lydia's mother laughed. "Unfortunately for us, that's the only way they know how. Fortunately for us, once they fall, it's the deepest, most passionate form of love there is." She paused, tucking a strand of black hair behind Lydia's ear.

"The kind of love where they will do anything and everything to prove it to us. Even if that means being demanding and rude." She stood, extending her hands out. "And I know for a fact, Sebastian feels that kind of love for you. So go, amore. He'll make it up to you. I have no doubt."

Lydia sighed, taking her mothers hands and pulling herself up. "I don't want him to. I want him to leave me alone."

She clicked her tongue. "Now if that were true, you wouldn't be itching to run to the door." Her mother placed a kiss on her cheek. "Put on something nice, tesoro." (Honey)

Lydia watched her mother leave the room, smiling softly. She had always craved the love that her mother and father had and while she knew that she had it with Sebastian, she hated the fact that the families would always come first.

She understood, she really did. But what was going to happen when they got married one day? What if they had kids? Was he really going to miss dinners and bedtime just to run errands for her father?

Walking over to her closet, she stripped from her pj's and threw on the long, red dress that she had ripped off in haste earlier after she'd gotten ditched at dinner. She smoothed down the satin fabric then slipped on a pair of heels, stopping by her mirror to fix her long black hair and whatever makeup hadn't been cried off already.

Sebastian pounded on the door, making her roll her eyes. "I wonder what my life would be like if he wasn't such a macho man." She wondered out loud, exiting her room and making her way downstairs to the front door.

She pulled open the door right when Seb reached for the handle.

He smiled softly. "You look beautiful."

Lydia looked at the clock on the wall and then back at Sebastian. "I looked even better 3 and half hours ago." She pushed past him, essentially stomping down the concrete stairs of her home to the town car waiting for them.

She heard Seb sigh as he followed closely behind her. "Lydia, come on. Cut me some slack."

Once inside of the car, Sebastian put up the partition, angling his body towards her.

"Baby, please. Tonight was a big night. I'm sorry."

She scoffed, crossing her arms. "You're always sorry, Sebastian."

"I know." He sighed again, his fingers running through his hair.

Lydia looked over at Sebastian, her resolve cracking at the way his blue eyes pleaded with her. Her body relaxed, her back meeting the cold leather of the town car. "It's just embarrassing. I mean, they're my father's restaurants. Everyone there knows who I am. They know who you are. I look stupid."
