 2 days later

" I can't take this anymore!" you let out a loud scream, causing your sister to shriek and throw the watering can she just filled onto Keith

" Y/n!" The girl glared and pointed at the young men's soaked overcoat

But you ignored it

" I don't think I can handle one more meeting without going crazy" you vigorously ruffled your hair " Every time I sit there with someone it feels like I'm losing precious years of my life"

" Are they really that bad?" Keith asked while taking of his wet jacket and placing it on the ground to let it dry in the sun

" You have no idea" you pinched the bridge of your nose " Either they talk about uninteresting subjects such as diplomatic stuff or they just brag about themselves..."

Frowning at what she heard, Katarina pulled her sister into a hug as she didn't know what to say that could comfort her

" At this rate, I won't find anyone and probably end up stuck with some douchebag..."

" Hey! Don't give up just yet " the brown haired woman backed away and placed both her hands the girls shoulder " I'm sure you'll eventually find someone you can get along with "

" Easy for you to say, you got Geordo."

" Oh speaking of him..." Katarina sweat dropped and nervously thumbled with her thumbs " H-he kind of knows about...your engagement thing" she whispered the last part pretty low but you were still able to hear it

" What! How? When?"

" Well since mother is still inviting people from different parts of the country, it was just a matter of time before news spread" Keith said with crossed arms

Displeased at this discovery, you slouched down on to the ground and gripped the grass tightly between your fingers " Well there goes my plan on keeping it a secret " you whimpered

" I guess if Geordo heard it then the others have or will soon enough find about it to..."

" Brohter!" Sophia barged into Nicole's study room " Did you hear it?"

" Hear what?" the boy asked calmly, unfazed at his sister abrupt and loud entrance

" Lady Y/n! She's apparently looking for an engagement "

At this the boy flinched and for a mere second stopped writing before continuing " I see" was all he said, making his sisters brows raise in astonishment

Despite knowing that her brother was never really the type to show much emotion, it wasn't that surprising to see him react this way. Yet as the white haired girl knew about his affection for the second princess of the Claes family, Sophia did kind of hope to get a little more of a reaction then just an ' I see'

But alas that didn't happen...

And so without saying another word, the girl walked out of the study room, leaving the dark haired male, alone, with his thoughts

His expression may have looked straight up blank, making it seem like he didn't care, but on the inside, Nicole's mind was one big mixture of emotions

Both bad and good ones

" Now it makes sense why she asked me that question two days ago..." he mumbled in realization

" But does that mean that she's doing this against her will?"

Standing up, the young man walked towards his window and gazed at the clear blue sky " I hope she's doing okay. It can be quite exhausting " he sighed as he recalled how a couple of months ago he too experienced the same thing

However in his case, it was Nicole's own idea. His father hadn't proposed it

Though the boy was worried for his friends well being, he couldn't help but feel a stinging sensation on the left side of his chest. At first the feeling wasn't that bad, yet as he unintentionally pictured  the H/c haired girl with another men, having casual tea, the pain increased

Eventually, it got to a point that it was just so intense, that the boy decided to go for a walk outside. He needed to clear his mind and get rid of that uncomfortable feeling he felt

But unfortunately, being out in the garden, didn't help in the slightest. On the contrary, it had the opposite effect

Because as he watched the red flowers being tousled by the wind, Nicole was reminded of the time you had made a flower crown for his sisters and instead of giving it to her, he had put it on your head

Frowning at this memory, Nicole was well aware that what he was feeling was called jealousy. And although he wanted to do something against your engagement thing, he knew it wasn't right to do so

You were a grown teenager who could make her own decisions. So if you did find someone who you liked or was suitable enough, then he had no right to stop you from choosing them

However...

Despite telling himself this, Nicole knew that deep down

He didn't mean any of that
