"You said you never performed a Patronus charm." Draco said confused.
"I did, but u needed it, so I thought about a memory that could work and it did, it's been 11 years of trying for me too. We were getting somewhere, Astoria would have loved to see yours so fight for it and achieve it for her." Jane stated trying to make the hype grow.
"Find that memory Draco, that one memory, the first memory that you can think of, the one thing that made you so much happy." She came up holding his shoulders trying to see if she indeed managed to help him clear up his mind but she couldn't quite tell. Draco took her hands away from him gently stepping back and swinging his wand, he tried again.
"Expecto... Patronum." And a big eagle came out of his wand flying majestically, the biggest sign of freedom right out of Draco's wand. Jane jumped in happiness, the patronum disappeared and Jane hugged him.
"You di great, Draco! You did great!" She said letting go of him in under 2 seconds.
"What did u say?" He asked shocked, that sounded...
"I said that you did great! I told you that it was going to happen one day!" Jane smiled happily but the expression on Draco's face confused her.
"What's wrong?" She asked worried, was it not what he wanted to achieve al this time? Didn't he like his patronum?
"Nothing you just sounded like her." He said all mysterious, Jane furrowed her eyebrows and pursed her lips.
"I don't think that i sound or behave like Astoria, like no way shape or form." Jane said confused, was he comparing her to his dead wife? What the hell?
"No i mean the girl" Draco sighed. "The memory i choose was of the girl that graped my wrist during the battle, the same girl that told me to run away." Jane straightened herself up like a violin string and tried to put a really 'please don't read my mind' kind of face.
"Oh that's odd eh eh" She said in a strange robotic way, he squinted his eyes and the shook could be read on his face, was she? no she wasn't... right?
"Tell me Jane." He said stepping forward.
"Were you there during the battle of Hogwarts?" He started to interrogate, Jane was cold sweating, Draco knew, he just wanted her to tell him out loud. But how could she keep up such a lie so efficiently? Simple, she looked way different then 15 years ago.
"I was, yes." She replied with caution.
"Were you present when i was called to join the dark side?" He asked is voice grousing suspiscious.
"I-I was, yes." She knew it was coming and after getting herself in that situation she couldn't step out, but Draco didn't follow, there was no use in asking, he knew she would deny, if she was the one he was looking for.
"So...why did you choose that memory if i may ask?" Jane leaned on the big armchair crossing her arms trying to keep it cool, he wasn't asking more and she was happy to not have to go through it.
"That was the first time i felt genuinely happy, someone was reaching out for me, she wasn't loud but she was... i don't know we looked at each other for a split second, she kinda of saved me and set my decisions on track. I tossed the wand to Harry because i was sure there was someone who was going to belive in me. I don't know if it makes sense." Draco trailed ending up having a shortly long explanation, Jane was happy that her action of empathy made him take such a important decision.
"I wish i could thank her for what she did, even if it was basic empathy. She kinda disappeared after the war i couldn't find her anywhere, the only think i have left of her is the paparazzi photo of her back in the news paper."

December 24th 2015
It became a usual thing to go at the Malfoys for Christmas eve but this year things went a little different, the group of friends decided to spend all Christmas holidays at the Manor to cheer the two Malfoy up and give them company. Draco was great full for it, he didn't know what could have happened without someone ready to help him stay on his feet, he was also so happy that Scorpius had real friends instead of fake ones.
"Nope, Hugo i told you NO running down the stairs." Hermione voice echoed inside the Manor and laughter followed, the kids were all troublemakers, it ran in their blood, even teddy was kinda of one.
"Let him be, if he hurts himself he'll understand." Ginny advised sitting beside her on the sofa of the living room, helping her up wrapping the last presents for tomorrow.
"But remember to go help him asap if he get's hurt." Jane added coming behind them putting her hands on the back of the sofa and leaning a little bit over them to see how the packing was going.
"I know. You two, i am a mother too." The two women chuckled at her remark pushing her a little in a friendly way. The mood was nice, the fire really helped warming up the place.
"Ladies can anyone of you go help my mom come down? Dinner is ready." Draco announced coming in the room drying up his hand in a towel, dressed classy like he had to go out for a fancy Ministry party.
"I'll go." said Jane, she was the only one free of work.
"I'll cal the children too don't bother." Jane held a hand up stopping Draco from screaming his lungs out, he nodded and went back in the kitchen, Hermione and Ginny trailing after him to help him prepare the table, there were no house elfs, all of them took their leave for the Chrismas occasion. Yeah Astoria and Draco tried to make them free, per say, but that action of kindness made the elfs stay at their current work place and still help the Malfoy family, now that they were more caring and kind.
Narcissa was getting older by the day, and even if it was 2015 she still wore memories and hardships from the past, and no magic or medicine could help that heavy feeling, even less after Astoria's death.
Dinner was great, Draco grew a passion for cooking after mastering the use of the grill and everyone enjoyed the food. The kids went around the room as soon as dinner ended and the adults stayed at the table talking. Typical may I add.
"So what happened with Lucius?." asked Ron to Harry, after all this years they managed to find the poor man, alone in a hut on the middle of no where.
"We found him a brought him back to Azkaban." Harry confirmed the rumors on the Daily Prophet, It was useful tho have someone that knew what was really happening around.
"The Ministry thinks he pulled up an army, but seeing the conditions he was found in..." Continued Draco, he didn't go on mission because of emotional attachment rules but when he saw him being dragged to walk into one of the jury rooms he could tell his father was not even planning on revenge.
"Well... please treat him with a little of humanity while you bring him back to jail." Narcissa added, she still loved him after all, she knew the real Lucius, the funny guy and carless teen she always had to be after cause maybe no one would ever believe it but Lucius was kinda of a troublemaker when younger and received a lot of beating for that.
"Do you think it could be arranged to let him out?" asked Jane trying to understand how law and rules worked in the magical world, she could only tell that they were orthodox and medieval.
"Laws in the magical world are, sadly, really harsh Jane. Power get's in the head of people and magic... is literally power." Hermione pointed out.
"It's ruthless, magic doesn't excuse moral regression." Scoffed Jane looking at the side, she really hated how cruel the magic world was, she understood some minds were irrecuperable but others could be re-educated.
"Let it go Jane, power blinds people that's why i never hated muggles, sadly they do better in this field." Narcissa intervened getting up and patting her shoulder to calm her down.
"I need my room moved downstairs Draco." Narcissa said sitting in front of the fire.
