"With one sugar obviously." Sash pipes in plopping the small sweet cube in the sea of bitterness.
Rainbow grabs the tray and sets off with me to Chip's office to deliver his morning meal.
Once we're far away enough, I decide to thank my saviour for what they had done.
"Thank you Rainbow for, you know, saving my skin back there and not getting turned into her breakfast." Rainbow glances down at me for a mere second, and simply nods in response.
'Right, they're probably still mad at me from last night.' I frown, placing itself on my face.
"Why are you frowning?" Rainbow asks, catching me off guard.
"Nothing!" I reply a little too quickly, which Rainbow doesn't fail to catch as a sceptical look dawns on their face.
"You really think you can reply that quickly without me asking any further questions?"
"Yes...?"
"Idiot."
"Rude."
"Should you really be saying that when your life's on the line? May I remind you there is a bloodthirsty hound at the bar, waiting to rip you apart the moment you come close to her."
"Thank you for the notification. I seemed to have failed to notice that." I retaliated.
And for the first time ever I heard Rainbow chuckle, it was so strange and yet mesmerising considering they are usually so monotone. It only lasted a few seconds though, before they quickly switched back to their neutral expression.
"What was that?" I blurted out quickly, slapping my hands over my mouth.
"A... Laugh?" They say with a quizzeling look.
"I know but It's just I've never heard you laugh before! You're usually so monotone and expressionless."
"I mean I know I carry a very neutral look most of the time but it doesn't mean I have zero emotions."
"I only thought you had two."
"Which were?"
"Neutral and angry."
"I understand how you would assume that after last night's... events."
"Do you ha-?"
"No."
"You didn't even hear the last part of my sentence!"
"I didn't need to, considering you asked Sash the same question last night."
"How do you know about that? Was it from the cameras or the microphones?"
"It's something much more complicated." I quietly waited for them to say which incredible method they used to figure out last night's conversation.
"I talked to her."
"..."
Silence...
"Huh?!" I suddenly shouted.
"You heard me the first time and even if I'm taller than you I can still hear you from up here."
"Ah right sorry.."
"It's okay."
"So you guys talked about our conversation?"
"Indeed, Sash often talks to me at night considering during the day we work jobs that don't match each other, so we wait for these opportunities to discuss these things with each other. So no, I do not hate you, annoyed? Yes, like everyone else... Well mostly everyone else."
"What's your reason for not hating me?"
"First, you can not assume we all hate you, except for Chubby she definitely hates you-"
"I got that message."
"Secondly, I find anger to be a waste of my energy so I try to forget as quickly as possible. It's immature and idiotic to hold petty grudges when these mistakes have happened countless times, therefore I move on as quickly as possible and putting my energy into more productive things, such as my work."
"Wow, you're so wise."
"I know."
"And cocky."
"I know." They smirk slightly but it quickly fades away. We come to a stop and are currently in front of Chip's office. Rainbow knocks twice before an "Enter" can be heard from inside the room. With that we open the door and see Chip casually leaning back in his chair.
Silence fell but quickly disappeared when I heard his voice cut through it.
"Good morning... Dandelion."
