~~~~~~~~~~~~♖Chapter 7♖~~~~~~~~~~~~
Start from the beginning
I soon go back to wiping glasses until I hear footsteps approaching the bar. As I looked up to see which moron had arrived first I met the biggest one of all... Miracle. I immediately looked back down now unusually focused on the glass I was wiping.
Yet the most uncomfortable and awkward silence had decided to grace us with a visit and it was slowly killing me, so I decided to break the silence with a simple.
"Good morning."
"Ah! I- uh, good morning." She replies, probably taken aback from my sudden words.
"How was your first night?" I reply casually trying to keep the conversation going to avoid the awkward silence.
"Good, well good in terms of sleep, the rest was pretty eventful..." She quiets down at the last yet I still managed to catch it.
I push the plate towards her because no one can possibly be sad when consuming my delicious meals, also because she might need it, afterall she's a part of the squad now and that means we could get assigned a mission.
"You should eat, you never know what crazy task Chip might have us do today or if you're lucky we'll just be running the casino normally."
"I'm hoping for option two." I take in her words, kids are probably not looking forward to watching someone's life get drained from them but she's the one who brought this upon herself.
"Well beggars can't be choosers." I reply in a calm tone fighting back the urge to tell her it's her fault for ending up here in the first place.
"Well I wish I could choose that way I could always do normal casino tasks!"
"..." Normal casino task... Child, have you seen our boss? That man is everything but normal, he invites and then kills the people who work at another casino for crying out loud.
"What would a normal casino task be?" She suddenly says aloud, I can't help but chuckle at this, normal doesn't exist around here.
"Might work with me at the bar, work a reception with Chubby-" I see her tense at the mention of Chubby's name, rightfully so though the girl smashed a chair for losing to her last night wiping her win streak because of a cheater.
"Keep the guests entertained with Sash or you'll most likely serve drinks and snacks with Rainbow." I finish saying, but alas the silence comes back, I can see her zoning out all of sudden seeming to have delved in deep thought.
"Hey Jaza?" I simply hum in response.
"Do you hate me?" I look up at her to see her staring down at her plate of half eaten food, taken aback by her sudden question 'Why the hell ask that all of a sudden?', I quickly think of my response to this question.
"Hate? That's quite a strong word, it's more that I don't understand your decision." I am satisfied by my response because it's simply the truth, I don't hate her, I just don't understand her decision.
"Huh?" They look up at me, a confused expression painted on her face.
"Why did you think you could do such a thing and get away with it, with zero repercussions?" Istates shaping my hand into an o shape to symbolise a zero, she goes quiet thinking about how to respond to my question.
"Because I got away with it before." Is all she says, 'Th-that's it?! No deep profound reasoning, no egotistical reason just because they had gotten away with it once?!'
I let out an annoyed sigh, as I looked down only to be met with the wooden counter.
"You know there's a reason that we're classified as the best casino-" I start.
"Because you eliminate your competition?" They spit out, 'Bitch really thinks, she can walk in here, lose, almost have her life taken, interrupt me and say that? I mean in her defence it's true but it was her dumbass that got her in this situation in the first place.
I realised I was glaring at her, before I quickly looked back down and decided to resume my speech.
"We are classified as the best casino because we know how to play our cards right, we know how to pick up on others, and we are aware of everything that is going on around us."
"..."
"..."
"No offence Jaza but, you didn't notice that I cheated." 'Ouch, but touché' I thought.
"..."
"..."
"Okay so maybe we aren't aware of everything all the time." I say sheepishly considering that, I hadn't noticed it during the moment.
"But if you hadn't been caught right then and there, we still have cameras and microphones everywhere so sooner or later we would have caught onto what you had done." I quickly glanced back up to see them suddenly looking a little nervous.
"I mean listen, when you go to the best casino in the region, challenge it's top players, you do your research beforehand so you can be more prepared." She looked at me with a completely confused look.
"Are-are you seriously telling me how to successfully cheat in a casino?!"
"Perhaps..." I gave a sly smirk, realising that was exactly what I had just done.
"Well perhaps I should have met you sooner." She laughs, with me soon joining in.
"Yeah you should have scrub!" We sat there laughing for a minute straight before it slowly started fading away.
We go back to silence yet this time it seems to be a comfortable one which I am extremely grateful for. I get a plate of food for myself and grab a knife and fork. When she starts talking again.
"Sash told me yesterday that she got stuck in this job in a similar way to me, except that she wasn't going to be immediately killed so-" I look back up at her, 'My breakfast nuuuuu.'
"So how did you get stuck here?" I was extremely taken aback by this question, like girl, you walked in here last night got all of us half pissed, well no, Chubby and Chip were completely, but still you can't just ask me that right out of the gates.
I kept my face neutral. Thinking about what to answer like, do I tell the truth or do I tell them to buzz off and not ask me such questions, the longer I thought the more I started to want to tell them, so I decided I would open my mouth and I utter the following words.
"Did you know I was quite the drinker?"
