The next morning, Gu Ye woke up early and washed up. He took his schoolbag and luggage downstairs and put them in the hall before heading to the dinner table.

This time, breakfast wasn't "one-hundred noodles," but dumplings instead. According to Mrs. Gu, "Eat dumplings when leaving, eat noodles when returning. Eat this bun and I'll chase both of you out."*

(*I wasn't sure how to edit this part.)

Gu Ye silently looked at his brother's bowl, then his own bowl as though he were comparing.

Mrs. Gu's heart tensed, afraid that Gu Ye would spout nonsense like "The dumplings in younger brother's bowl are bigger than mine," which would make the other family members uncomfortable. Gu Ye glanced at her face and smiled. He dragged his brother's bowl and swapped it with his own, "Mom is biased. Your dumplings are already torn."

Gu Yang blinked his eyes and actually believed him, "Really? Mom, why do you only love brother and not me?"

Mrs. Gu couldn't stop the corners of her mouth from curling and said with disgust, "Because your brother is better at studying than you, you idiot. You don't have much brain even after eating so much."

Gu Yang looked confused, "Mom, you've really become his real mom."

Mrs. Gu sneered at her son.

Just after they finished eating, a servant came to the entrance of the dining room with a long brocade box, "Third young master, a middle-aged woman came by to give you this gift just now."

Gu Ye wiped his mouth and received the box, much to the whole family's confusion. Under his father's scrutiny, he quietly took a peek and closed it immediately.

"Mom, this is my Mother's Day gift to you." Gu Ye turned around and gave the box to Mrs. Gu. He smiled and said, "Take it to your room and look inside. Don't let dad steal it away from you."

Mrs. Gu happily received and hid it for a moment to take a look. When she opened it, her face froze slightly then looked happy. She hugged him tightly in her arms, "Mom accepts. You won't want it back?"

Gu Ye's body hurt but he still smiled, "No."

Inside was a bank card sent by Aunt Wang. He didn't know where she got the money or how she repaid her debts so quickly, but what was more surprising—and a little distressing—was that there was a silk banner inside! If the old man saw the silk banner, his blood pressure would shoot to the sky. His father was trying to make him quit fortune-telling by sending him abroad, how could he dare take this banner out right now?!

Gu Ye dragged his luggage to go to school in pain. Mrs. Gu cheerfully put him in the car and instructed him to take good care of himself, don't catch a cold or get too skinny~ Who was her real son? She'd long forgotten already.

Gu Ye sat down in the car and shook his head. A woman who's crazy about money, how scary!

——As soon as he got back to school, everyone was paranoid over which school to apply to. The fifty percent of those who were good friends got together and discussed their first and second choices, and their reasons. Like a room full of little ducks, no one stood idle.

The class monitor stood up and shouted, "Class, Teacher Yu wants the students who've already decided to submit their forms first! Come with me!"

Xia Xiang took out his form and came to Gu Ye, "Did you decide on where to go?"

Gu Ye took out his own form and showed him. He wrote "Imperial Capital First University" very neatly and was particularly proud of it.

Zhao Pengyu came over to take a look, "Fuck! That's the top university in the country. If you pass the entrance exam, you'll bring glory to your ancestors, but the admission score is way too high." He looked around and whispered quietly, "With your abilities,* don't you two want to study abroad?"
