Draco POV
A boy enters the store. He's pale, with the greenest eyes I've ever seen and has messy brown hair. My face feels hot...am I blushing..?
The boy is talking to Madam Malkin-now they're walking over here. I quickly get myself together and pretend like I'm checking out my robe. He's standing on the stool next to me.
"Hello", I cleared my throat, " Hogwarts too?"
"Yes", he quietly responded.
"My father's next door buying my books and mother's up the street looking at wands", I say smoothly, "Then I'm going to drag them off to look at racing brooms.
I don't see why first years can't have their own. I think I'll bully my father into getting me one and I'll smuggle it in somehow."
Oh my god, why would I say that?! So much for first impressions. The boy gives me a confused look as he looks back at the mirror.
"Have you got your own broom?", I say, desperately trying to make small talk.
"No," said the boy.
"Play Quidditch at all?"
"No," He said again, confused.
"I do — Father says it's a crime if I'm not picked to play for my house, and I must say, I agree. Know what house you'll be in yet?"
"No,"
Wow, maybe he's one of those boys that is really pretty but stupid.
"Well, no one really knows until they get there, do they, but I know I'll be in Slytherin, all our family have been-", I stop myself before a make a rude joke about Hufflepuff. I don't want to scare him away.
"Mmm," said the boy, uninterested. Am I really that boring?
There's a big hairy man peering at the window. It looks like he's waving at...me? No, that can't be right, he must be waving at the boy with ice cream in hand. Maybe his father. Ew.
"I say, look at that man!", I exclaim.
"That's Hagrid,", the boy said, smiling,"He works at Hogwarts."
"Oh,"
Guess that's not his father.
"I think he's brilliant," the boy beams.
"Do you?"I can't stop myself,"Why is he with you? Where are your parents?"
"They're dead", the boy whispered.
Shit.
"You're all done dear", Madam Malkin smiles.
"I guess I'll see you at Hogwarts then", I say as he jumps off the stool.
"Bye", the boy says quickly before he runs to Hagrid.
As soon as he's out the door my hands are in my face and I'm as red as a tomato. I didn't even ask for his name! Idiot! Idiot! What if I never see him again? Maybe I can sit by him on the train. Crabbe and Goyle won't mind. I'll just say he's someone famous like Harry Potter.
