I hear a knock on my door and I go to open it

"We're here," Joy yells in a sing-song voice

"And loud," I say covering my ears at the noise I glance at the dresses still inside the garment covers there are at least fifteen

"I thought I said no dresses," I say backing up as if I plan for them to attack me

"They're not all dresses," Dai says walking in Joy shut the door behind her they drag me to the bed room

"You didn't answer my question about why we need so much time to get ready for a party," I say

"Well we all need to pick what to wear then we have to do make up get dressed then do hair not to mention accessories and shoes," They say excitedly

"And there will be food there so we don't need to eat dinner," They say and start unzipping garment covers

"1: I don't where make up 2: I'll probably just put my hair back in a braid," I say as I flip a loose ringlet over my shoulder "3: just pick some matching shoes 4: It can't take that long to get dressed 5: you bought the clothes so you probably tried them on so you already know how they look on you 6: just picking some accessories can't be that hard," I say they just stare at me slack jawed

"No f*cking way," they say in unison

"You don't wear makeup?!" Dai asks

"No it makes my skin icky," I say cringing remembering when I had to use makeup to cover my cuts and bruises from the cage fights and when dad was to violent, I reach up and rub the scar on the back of my neck trying to stop the shivers running up my spine

"Don't believe this," Joy says taking a makeup wipe from the kit she brought and starts to vigorously rub my cheek with it while I try to unsuccessfully push her off of my without hurting her after a minute she stops "Your cheek is turning pink. But how?! Your lashes are darker than your hair," she says

"Of course I don't wear makeup also my lashes have always been more of a dark brick red," I say exasperated wiping the moisture off my cheek

"But your so pale I figured after your introduction to the class that you were pale but it was exaggerated by makeup," Dai says frowning worriedly

"Yeah I just pale I literally don't tan at all ever," I say getting short tempered

"Okay so clothes," they say quickly changing the subject I take a deep breath and my left hand stops shaking I reach up and make sure my hair is still covering my ears

"Right well might as well take them out of the covers," I say they start unzipping the garment covers and taking out clothes and laying them down on my bed I sit in the chair by my desk "You guys pick first i'll judge," I say turning to face them

"Ok," they agree and grab all the dresses and run into my bathroom to change

After five minutes they both come out of the bathroom in floor length fishtail dresses with a keyhole neckline the dresses are identical and covered in glitter but Joy's has red glitter the same shade of blood Dai has gold glitter on her dress

"Well what do you think?" They ask hopefully

"Where is the party area usually?" I ask

"Um usually in the woods around the school why?" Dai answered

"Yeah no you are not walking through the woods in those dresses, next," I say

"Oh yeah I guess you're right," They say walking back into the bathroom to change.
