chapter 1

(Zoey)

I woke up bright and early for my second week of sixth year. I am currently in my leaving cert at the end of the year I am going to be sitting my state exams. I drag myself out of my bed and into my bathroom which is also attached to my walk in closet. When I finish picking out my outfit. I heard my name being called out by my mam "Zoey honey, breakfast is ready, I advised you to come down now before your dog Kyle eats it's up on you. I replied with "okay, I'll be down in a minute".

As I walked downstairs and into the kitchen, my dog ran past me, grabs the food from the plate and ran back upstairs to my room "KYLE GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW". Kyle ran down with his tail between his legs and my food in his mouth "that's a good boy, now don't even dare to think about doing that again okay, off you go now, go on off, into bed and be a good boy." He gave me the puppy eyes, woof as to say sorry and he wanted a belly rub as well and I was dying from all his cuteness.

As I walked over my yellow mini cooper, my mam ran out with a bag for me " Honey I'm going on a business trip for a couple of month in Dublin and I won't be back for your birthday, I'll be back a week after it. Oh and don't forget about your chemo treatment on Wednesdays and also Saturdays." "I won't,I'll ask Nala to come with me." I replied then my mam ran back into the house when she realized that she was still in her pajamas. As I pulled out of my driveway I called my best friend Nala, she is a shy but smart and pretty girl. "Hey Nala, I'm on my way to get you". "Okay I'll be outside in a few see ya then" Nala replied and then hung up the phone.

I turn the corner onto Nala's road and saw her standing outside on her phone texting her boyfriend by the looks on her face. I honked the horn and accidentally frighten her as she got in the car I told her "I'm sorry, didn't mean to scare you. Can you do something with me on Wednesday and Saturdays, I have treatment in hospital and my mam is on a business trip for a month and won't be back until the week after my birthday". Nala said to me "Yea sure it's no problem and if you want me to stay with you until you mam comes back I will be happy to and we could do girly things." I nodded to her idea.

We arrived at Costa I got a Lemon Ice Tea and a brownie and Nala got a Caramel Latte Cooler and a big cookie. I can tell be her face that she is in love with her drink because she was singing to her drink. A few minutes later we arrived at school to see a big crowd of people swarming around a new kid or a fight (or both). Nala walked over to what was going on, while I headed into the nurses office to get my breakfast medicine and also to go to my locker to get my books for the first four classes. Today is the day I get my time table for my classes and hopefully today was going to go fast.

Everyone in sixth year and first year has to go the library for a welcome back meeting and to get our timetable and to see the first years for the first time. As sixth year we get to do a buddy system with them. The principle calls out our names and we go up and meet our buddies. I got a little shy girl by the name of Mia Walsh, Mia is a shy girl with a calming personality and she has a twin name Alfie, who is the complete opposite he was very out going and he had a crazy personality.

After me and Nala gave Mia and Alfie a tour around the school. I told them to continue without me because I had to go to the nurse's office to take a nap to I was tired from walking around the school, I have a wheelchair in the school but I don't use it much cause I feel like I have not freedom to walk or Nala isn't in the same classes as me. When I wake up I hear the bell for lunch and I see Nurse Helen sitting in her office, tapping away on the computer.  "Hi Helen how are you today?" I ask stretching my legs "I'm grand and is there anything you need today while you're awake." Nurse Helen replied. 

"Yes there is can I please have my wheelchair out please?" I asked Helen and she nodded while getting up for her desk to the it out of the spare office that I could sleep in if there is someone getting checked out by her. I texted Nala to come down to the nurse's office to get me because I can't push myself around to much.
