“Whatever. You’ll be paying for it eventually.” She sneered from the kitchen.

How’d you sleep? I slept like a baby in a bundle of blankets. I had an amazing dream, how about you?

“I thought I was done with you.” I mumbled.

You seriously thought you were “done with me”? Oh, please. You’ll never be done with me. I’m you, remember? I just happen to come and go whenever I please.

“That’s my only problem, unfortunately,” I sighed. “If you’re going to be around for a long time, then I suppose I should get used to you.”

Ha! Good luck with that. My personality is never the same. We’re unpredictable, which makes us similar and hard to determine.

I pondered the thought for a moment. “That may be true,” I paused, “But at least I have a general idea about myself.”

Wrong. If I’m unpredictable, and I am connected to you, then your argument is invalid considering I am a part of your personality. Don’t try to argue with me, Cole. I know your points; I can turn them against you.

“Well, you can’t blame a girl for trying.” I sighed, defeated.

You never answered my questions.

“I’m I required to?” I spat. “I shouldn’t have to tell you something you are clearly aware of.”

So you did receive that memory. Good. My skills are improving nicely.

“That’s nice. You found a new way to invade and torture my already miserable life. Perfect.” I spoke sarcastically. “Yes, I did receive that nightmare of a memory. Hit me right in the feels. I really hope you’re happy with yourself.”

Oh trust me, Cole. I am ecstatic.

“Great. Can I do my chores now?”

Do I need to nag you while you do it?

I sighed. It seems I can’t stop sighing. There’s just something inside me that’s going “really?” in a sarcastic tone. A bubble of laughter escaped my mouth for the first time in months. I was unaware of my ability to laugh until now.

Too bad you don’t have any friends laugh with.

“Yes, I’m fully aware.” I retorted. “That is going to change this year.”

Unlikely.

“All the reason to prove you wrong.” I smiled. “Oh, that would be the day. To finally silence your revolting comments that seem to endlessly run through ‘our’ minds.”

Oh please. There are so many things I can bring up that can automatically turn your friends against you. You’ll think about it and realize that it was only your fault. Good luck, though. This should be fun!

“Challenge accepted.” I muttered as I pulled of the covers from my body. Glancing across the room, I noticed the window was open. “What the…”

There was a nice breeze penetrating the barrier. I stood for a second and stretched, for some odd reason my muscles ached. Each step was slightly painful, but I could manage.

“Thanks for emptying every water bottle!” my mother called from the kitchen, aggravated more than a monkey without his banana.

I walked out to her in confusion. “I didn’t touch the water bottles, mom.” I told her cautiously. “Are you sure you didn’t drink them?”
