How did this happen? she wrote. You didn't even have tickets for the show.

Then there were about 10 Ring me!!! messages and half a dozen Answer your phone!!! texts. Then I listened to the voice mails she'd left, including one that I must have just missed before I switched me phone on.

"Oh my God Em, have you seen? You're in the Sun and on Sugarscape. You and Harry Styles. Ring me back, I mean it."

I would ring her, but first of all I had to check out the Sun and Sugarscape. I went to Sugarscape first.

The story was easy to find — it was headlined Harry Styles Makes Lucky Fan Swoon. There were two pictures of him singing to me on stage. Both were a little grainy and in one you could only see the side of my head. But in the other you could clearly see us both side on, and we were smiling at each other.

There was also a video clip, which appeared to be the same one I had watched on YouTube last night.

I scrolled down, and started reading the story.

Hands up if you've ever had one of those lovely little daydreams where you imagine going to a One Direction concert and one of the lads pulls you out of the crowd and sings to you on stage. OK, if you didn't put your hand up, we don't believe you. Surely everyone has had this fantasy. It's kind of a prerequisite to being a Directioner.

Well, for one lucky lass this scenario actually came true at last night's show. And it was no less than Mr Harold Styles who got the world's most fortunate fan up on stage with him when he and the lads sang You And I. He's been doing this a bit lately, but so far most of his lucky subjects have either been young kids, or women old enough to be his mum.

Last night, however, he chose a girl who looked to be just his type — young and very pretty. Not only did the Haz-man serenade her with those dulcet tones of his, but he held her hand and gazed deep into her eyes, looking for all the world as if he'd liked to have done a lot more than just warble at her.

To us it actually looked like he wanted to whip her off stage for a private performance, if you know what we mean.

The girl in question couldn't stopping eyeballing Mr Styles — and do you blame her? — and although she looked pretty stunned, she managed to keep it together much better than we would have. We'd have melted into a puddle of weak tea and biscuit crumbs if that was us.

We did initially think Harry might have chosen She-who-we-are-desperately-trying-not-to-hate because she was wearing a replica of the to-die-for black Burberry shirt with white hearts that he wore to the premiere of This Is Us. If that was the case we were about to withdraw our life savings and run down to Burberry to stock up on shirts as worn by our Harreh on previous occasions.

But it seems that perhaps it wasn't a random moment after all — which would explain why she kept her composure so well.

Our source at the show informs us that after he finished singing to her, Hazza introduced her to the crowd as Emma, and said she had rescued him, and if she hadn't he'd still be in a broom cupboard.

Right-o. We are used to Harry making somewhat obscure and off-the-wall comments, but we really have no idea what he is going on about there. Broom cupboard? Really Harold? Day job doesn't pay enough? You've taken a cleaning job on the side? We would love to know what that is all about.

And then once Emma, if that is indeed her name, left the stage, one eagle-eyed observer reported that she sat in a special roped-off area next to a woman who looked suspiciously like Harry's big sister, the beautiful Gemma Styles.
