I heard the sound of the front door to the apartment open. It was no surprise you could basically hear every single noise with these paper thin walls in this two bedroom apartment.
"Luke did you hear that."I say referring to the sound of the front door opening.
"Mhm." He mumbles and continues kissing down my neck, trying to leave a mark.
I hear footsteps coming towards my room.
"Luke hide! I think Ashton is back." I whisper and pull him off of me.
"Are you serious you told me he was gone and wasn't coming back today." He says rolling his eyes and grabs his shirt from the floor and pulls it over his head.
"I'm sorry I thought he was, now shut up and go in there." I point to my closet and a knock on my bedroom door happens at the same time.
"Marina are you in here." Ashton says through the door.
"Yeah hold on I just have to throw on some clothes on real quick." I say shoving Luke into my closet and grabbing a shirt and putting it on along with some shorts before opening the door.
"Hey Ashton I thought you were going to be at Ava's all day today." I open my bedroom door and Ashton leans in the door frame.
"Hey Marina, about that I just wanted to make sure you're ok and it's not going to be uh ya know weird between us." He says nervously.
"Ash it's ok you really don't need my permission to date someone." I chuckle nervously hoping Luke doesn't make any noise as I'm talking to Ashton.
"I was just making sure I didn't want you to be mad at me or something." He says putting his hands in his pockets.
"no honestly it's ok Ava is really cool you guys would be good for each other ." I try to smile.
"thanks Marina well I'm gonna get going I just forgot my wallet and wanted to check with you." He awkwardly waves and turns around.
"Have fun and remember Ashton no glove, no love." I joke around followed by an awkward giggle.
I hear Ashton laugh into the other room.
"Bye Marina." He yells before heading out the front door.
Ashton is my roommate and sort of my ex. When we broke up about a year ago. I had no where to go, I moved across the country to stay with him thinking we were going to last forever but that didn't work out so he let me stay in the apartment. Which I'm forever grateful, I know it's not ideal to live with your ex but we ended things amicably. We both just wanted very different things in life.
Of course it gets awkward but we try our best just to act like friends like we used to be.
And Luke.
He's best friends with Ashton and I. But Luke and I have developed a friends with benefits kind of relationship over the past month. Which we hide from Ashton cause of 'bro code'.
" Luke I think you can come out now." I sigh and sit on my bed. I felt pretty guilty because Ashton cared how I felt about the whole situation with him and Ava. I'm here messing around with Luke not to mention his best friend. What a great friend I am.
"I think we should have sex in the closet." Luke Says while tumbling out the closet. I reach for a pillow and throw it at him, it ends up hitting him in the chest.
"Or not, unless you want to." He winks and lifts an eyebrow and I just laugh.
"So what did Ashton want." He says taking a seat next to me on the bed.
"He wanted to see if I was okay with him and Ava being together." I turn to face Luke.
"And are you." He runs his hand thru his blonde hair.
" I mean ya why wouldn't I... I mean I'll always care about him I moved across the country for the guy." I say looking down at my hands.
"I mean it's okay to still have feelings for him." Luke says nudging my shoulders with his. I can't help to think that what Luke and I are doing is so wrong.
"Luke I think we should stop this." I look up from my hands to look up at him and he just stares at me with his blue eyes.
"Well okay if that's what you want that's fine I think I'm going to go now call me if you need anything." he says a bit taken back. He gets up from the bed to look for his black vans that he always wears.
"Luke come on we can still hang out, We can watch a movie or something right now." I try to break the awkward tension.
"No it's fine I'm supposed to help Michael move a desk out of his room anyways." he says finding his shoes behind the door and slipping them on.
"Oh okay I'll catch you later I guess. " I didn't really understand why Luke was rushing to leave all I said was I didn't want to continue having a friends with benefits relationship and I really hope this doesn't end our friendship or anything.
"Ya." was all he said before leaving me alone in the apartment.
