NIKKI-GRACE LIM SIDE STORY

Though fictional and may be coincidental, ang pangamba ko ay baka pumasok uli ako sa world ni Sophie with the means of my own extraordinary dream last night.

Sina ate mom Maya at little sis Abby, mapaniwalaan nila kaya? Only God knows, ika nga.

On the lighter side, nakapasa na nga ang entrance exam ko sa P.U.S. at about more than 80 points. Gayon din sa last high school exam ko, with an average of 80 points from 1st to 4th at all school subjects.

And how about my prom night?

Month of March 2015. About few weeks to go before my 17th birthday, and one month to go for our vacation to Japan together with my siblings, my dad Ser Chief, and ate mom Maya and her kambal where they went honeymoon last year. When I went home from school, I saw my little sister Abby watching on our hi-def widescreen LCD TV a music video of I Can, a theme song of my fave TV show Oh My G. Minsan pinakanta at pinasayawan pa siya.

"Hey, what are you watching, baby?" I said to Abby.

"Ah," Abby said, "it's 'I Can', ate. Did you ever watch it?"

"No, not yet, baby," I answered, "I only expect to watch my fave TV show tonight. But had you the first time to listen that song you ever watch it now?"

"Yup," she answered. "When that song was started, ate Niks?"

"I guess," I said to her, "when I remembered a bit while our real mother was alive before you were born, she who had ever heard the song had said to me that it was introduced in 1980s, and it was originally performed by Donna Cruz from the Tagalog movie 'Do Re Mi'. Did you get it, Abby?"

"Ahm, I get it a bit," she said. "The song was so very touching. And oh, I hear there's a high soprano notes, ate. Can you hear it?"

"Ahm, are you sure?" nabulalas ko. "Heheh, grabeh talaga ang singer na 'to! Parang if I sing, baka mapiyok nga ako."

"Hahaha," she chuckles, "May hagod ka ba to sing that song then?"

"Hagod?" I curiously thought as I said. "A bit, baby, that's more than we heard a new pa-uso such as 'hugot lines'."

"'Hugot' lines?" Abby was curious also. "What's the meaning of 'hugot', ate?"

"Ahm, forget about that, baby," I stumbled, "you're too young to know such word lingo. Ahm, ganito na lang, gawin na lang natin 'yung parang sign language ang pag-express ng ating arms sa kanta na 'yan, kagaya ng dati na 'Tell the world of his love'."

"Meaning with 'actions', ate?" she asked.

"Yup," I answered, "but maybe pag-iisipan ko pa kung anong act ang pag-express natin sa kanta na 'I Can'."

And so I began to think on how to create an action by moving our hands, arms, and feet based from listening the music of I Can. Then I began to teach myself and for my little sis Abby on our own I Can 'actions' within an hour. When we play a music video of I Can from the start, minsan sumablay kami nang konti so I revised it a bit until our 'expressions' movement will become perfect. At last, after at least one hour with several attempts we encountered, na-perfect na nga ang aming movement style kahit ilang ulit na nag-replay ang music video at kahit naka-hingal kami ng pagod.

"Hoy, anong ginagawa ninyo d'yan?" manang Fe said to us.

"Ah, manang Fe," I said, "gumawa po kami ng sarili naming movement na may 'actions' na pinanood kami ng music video na 'I Can'."

"Sus," manang Fe said, "may natutunan nga ba ang ginagawa ninyo? Hindi ba kayo kakain ngayon kasama ang daddy at mom Maya ninyo?"

"Later na po, manang," I answered, "susunod na po ako mamaya."

When manang Fe was left, I watched on my wristwatch and said, "Tamang tama, it's 6:25 na, I had to watch 'Oh My G' first." Then I blushed.

"May I watch your show, ate?" Abby said.

"Of course, little sis," I said. "Ang akala ko, ayaw mo nang manood ang fave show ko. Thanks for admitting this."

Alright, I've done conveying with my little sis Abby, but frankly, I refused to tell about my dream for entering Sophie's world. But how about ate mom Maya? Hmm, I'll enter to our twin sibling's room where Maya took care of the two.

"Mommy Maya?" I said.

"Oh, Nikki," she said, "may kailangan ka pa ba para matulungan kita?"

"No, not yet," I said. "But may I ask you?"

"Yes?" she said.

"Had you ever heard a music of 'I Can' by Donna Cruz since 1980s?" I said.

"Ah, oo, Nikki," Maya answered, "narinig ko na 'yun sa radyo o cassette tape 'nung dalaga pa ako."

"Had you remembered the lyrics?" I asked.

"Ahm, nakalimutan ko lang nang konti," she answered. "Pero ang alam ko lang 'yung ilang portion ng chorus lyrics na--" Then she began to sing:

"I can live/I can love/I can reach the heavens above--"

"Naku, pasensya na, Nikki," she said, "nakalimutan ko na ang ibang lyrics, pero natatandaan ko lang ito noong sumali ako sa high school activities."

"Mmm, that's alright, mommy Maya," I said, "but we had a latest music video of 'I Can' just as my little sis Abby had already watch it. Kanina, nagsagawa kami ng sariling hand and arms 'actions' sa kanta nito."

"Talaga?" she said. "Sige, subukan mo nga ang ginawa ninyo."

"Ah, next time na lang," I said. "If you have a break, subukan mong manood ang music video ng 'I Can'. Pwedeng sabayan mo ring manood ng pag-perform namin kasabay ng 17th birthday ko."

"O siya," she said while she was convinced for continuing to take care of her twin babies, "pero kung may time ako para manood, sa palagay ko napaka-demanding talaga ang diskarte ninyo sa pag-perform kahit ang babata pa."

Oh well, I had only a capability on a task for asking if ate mom Maya had heard the song I Can. Gee, I can't able to state about my strange dream about entering a world of my favorite TV show, baka hindi niya ako mapaniwalaaan!
