The Meeting

I adjusted my hat as I waited for customers to arrive. It was my first day here at the shop. But I could feel my eye twitching with the nervousness I felt. The entire place felt cold and intimidating. A couple of posters of tough, tattooed men with menacing faces were plastered up. Many mirrors with dark frames hung in the back near the studio.

Honestly I hadn't been expecting this when I found the flyer pinned up that said ' Receptionist Wanted'. And especially not after meeting with the bubbly and smiling manager. But, whatever pays the bills.

The doorbell rung as a customer walked in. I looked up to see a woman with short pink hair stride in. She walked up to me leaned over the counter on an elbow. "Hello darling" she said as she looked me in the eyes. I saw her mouth turn up in a smirk. "Yes?" I replied. She leaned in a little closer, "I'm looking to schedule an appointment."

"And whose this for?"

"Vi"

Vi. I paused typing the information into the computer. I could feel my breathing getting a little quicker. "You okay cupcake?" Vi tilted her head.

"I'm alright." I said sheepishly. "Just asthmatic" I spewed out.

Dumb. Stupid stupid dumb Cait. She's gonna think I'm an idiot!

I felt my face flushing.

"Saturdays open for an appointment."

I noticed her scribble done something quickly before looking back up. "I'll take it cupcake." She winked and turned back around heading out the door. Vi's leather jacket shrugging up as she pushed the door open.

I looked at the notepad she wrote on. It said 'Call Me ;)' in swoopy handwriting and a phone number written at the bottom. I quickly tore it off and tucked it in my pocket as I felt my face grow even redder.
