                                                     Chapter 2 - Traveling

After about three hours, the sun was starting to set.  I found a nice tree, and tied June up.  I slept there through the night.  Then June and I left bright and early.  I suddenly remembered something, when I was about seven years old, I remember my dad saying how much he wanted to move to New York City.  I thought that's probably where he went.  Only one problem, we live in Texas.  I'm still in Texas right now, and I want to get to New York City on a horse?  That will take months!  I sighed,"Maybe I should just got home!"  I shouted.  June whinnied.  I felt like she was telling me not to give up.  "Your right June, I'm not going to give up!"  I said and smiled.  Then June cantered for a little bit.  We were both excited about going on an adventure.

When we got to a city, I stayed on the far right side of the road.  Like where somebody would ride a bike.  People stared at me, but I didn't care.  They were probably thinking,"Doesn't she know people don't ride horses in town anymore?"  I just ignored them, and kept thinking about getting to my dad.

After we passed the town, I thought I should let June rest for a little while.  So we stopped under an apple tree.  I picked three apples off the tree.  Two for June, and one for me.  They tasted really juicy, and they were delicious.  I stuffed some in my backpack for future use.  I guess I hadn't eaten all day, and so I took another apple because I was very hungry.  Then I started dozing off a little bit.

Later, I woke up from my nap.  I thought we should continue so I got on June and we trotted off.  I loved this because the wind slightly breezed through my hair, and I could hear June's hooves crunching the tall grass.  This was how I wanted it to be.  Just me, and June riding off in the prairie. In no time, I saw a sign that read, Claytonville 16,036.  My nanna lives here, and I suppose I could visit her.  She might give me a map or a compass, but than I thought, she would'nt let me continue my journey by myself.  She would call my mom, or something.  So I decided not to stop at her house.

When we were out of Claytonville, the sun started to set, and then I felt a few rain drops on my shoulder.  It started raining, then it started to pour.  I heard thunder in the distance, and June and I stopped at a big weeping-willow tree.  We weren't getting very wet because of all the branches so it was pretty cozy.  I was kind of cold though, but I figured I would be fine.  I fell asleep for a litte bit, but I was awakened by a really loud noise.  It sounded like a train.  Then I looked in the sky, and screamed because I saw a huge twister.
