PROLOGUE

Alice stepped out into the darkness, the overwhelming sense of fear crawled up her spine like a spider licking it's claws against her back. Alice adjusted her vision to the first thing that set her senses on edge. The air was thick, the murkiness red void choking at her skin. The pit in her stomach bubbled.

Tick, tick, tick...

Her feet became wet, the silent noise echoing around her. The ground splashed around her ankles, threating to reach out and pull her through the coal black water that she stood above. Alice walked slowly, ignoring the coldness that crawled its way up her legs, travelling over her like a giant shadow. That's all it was.

A shadow, just a shadow. Staring down at her. The evil placed inside a locket begging to be escaped, she felt it. Alice felt everything. Alice looked down, heat licking at her arms, the air became stifled, she felt suffocated in her own mind. But it wasn't her mind she was in.

There stood one of her closest friends, his voice wavered through the air. Alice could feel the terrified whisper circling her. She felt sick, she needed to help him. Alice got close enough to reach out and delicately place her fingertips on his face.
