Teary Eyes - A Sonic x Reader

۵ Chapter 11 ۵

The ground suddenly starts rumbling, alerting all of us. Evil laughter turns our gazes to the town hall and soon from behind it appear ball shaped bots as well as Eggman on his Eggmobile. "Okay, Ball Bots, let's roll!" the doctor says as the balls approach us.

The bots start rolling on the ground as they move closer to us. Sonic, being the fastest, immediately runs over to one of them and jumps on top of it. He starts running on top of the bot moving it backward and toward a tree. Increasing his speed before jumping down he sends the bot flying at the tree breaking it.

Another bot flies straight toward Knuckles. As the bot is about to hit him, he smashes his fist straight into the bot. Much to his surprise, his hand goes almost all the way through it and as another bot tries to attack him, it ends up having the same faith. With some surprisingly quick thinking —for him I mean— he winds his arms back and throws the bots at Eggman.

The bots smash against the Eggmobile which starts smoking as Eggman yelps. The vehicle spins around as Eggman sighs, "Ah, what's the use?" He steers the damaged Eggmobile up into the sky, leaving a trail of dark smoke behind.

As we watch after the doctor, Tails turns to the last Ball Bot left, and aims his "party bazooka" at it. The bot wildly spins, sending many of the decorations that hit it around the village. Most of the decorations land perfectly between the buildings, while the ones that are left still cling onto the bot. Just like before when Tails had first hung the decorations, the plaza looks nice with golden ribbons and white fairy lights everywhere.

"The decorations look great, Tails," Amy says and walks over to the leftover Ball Bot. "And this'll make a great New Year's Eve ball!" She pushes the ball over to the pole where the original ball had been, and like before, Knuckles grabs the pole and presses it through the center of the ball. After hooking it to the wire, Knuckles cranks it up to the top.

"Now that the decorations are up, what should we do?" asks Sonic.

Tails glances at his communicator and turns to us, "There's still some time left before it gets dark. I think I'm gonna head back to the workshop to finish up my last inventions of the year."

"Today's the last day of the year so the chance of a robot apocalypse is higher than ever. Someone needs to make sure appliances aren't planning anything," Sticks "explains" to us.

"I'm guessing that someone is you," Sonic states.

"Of course it's me! Who else would it be? the appliances themselves can't be trusted," the badger replies.

Amy looks around, "Well it seems everyone has something to do. Let's meet here in an hour."

"Sounds like a plan," Tails agrees. "See you!"

While everyone else leaves, Sonic and I are left standing in the decorated plaza. As I turn to him, I find him already looking at me. "You don't have anywhere to be?" I ask.

"Where would I go? It's not like my appliances are gonna start walking," he replies. "I'm guessing you don't have plans either?"

"Nothing," I shake my head.

Glancing elsewhere he says, "You wanna do something?"

"Like what?"

He shrugs, "I dunno. We're here in the village. Maybe you need to go shopping or something."

Okay, what is he doing now? He could do anything he wants but he instead suggests to go shopping... with me. But now that he has brought the idea up, it reminds me of something. In all my time here, I have managed to survive with the few pieces of clothing that I originally brought. However, I am getting tired of creating the same combinations over and over again especially when I have exhausted every last option. Also, they're probably gonna become see-through sooner than later with all the washing they're going through.
