~Vanessa's POV~

Today was my only day off and I took advantage of it the best I could. I decided to get up early and cook myself some breakfast, as I made my way to the kitchen, I noticed I had a stack of dishes that I knew had to be done, sighing I picked up my phone checking for messages and any updates on the work schedule. "Fuck." The more i looked at my phone the more the hours changed, they scheduled me with the big boss, to cater him.

I walked into my room taking off my casual fit of sweatpants and a hoodie scrambling through the things in my closet to find my normal work outfit. I had eventually cane across my slim back pants, my black velvet heels and a white turtleneck to accommodate the temperature in the office, I ran into the bathroom to look myself in the mirror and check my outfit for any hiccups then started on my hair, brushing it through and quickly running the straightener though the kinks.

Soon, I threw on my grey cardigan and grabbed my belongings from around my apartment putting everything into my purse that soon became nearly the size of a miniature bookbag. I had needed to carry everything in case there was a change of hours or an emergency, it had contained a charger, some makeup, an extra hairbrush, pepper spray, my credit and debit cards, cash, and even some tampons in case I work overtime on my monthly. I angerly grabbed my keys off a hook near my front door walking out into the bright sunny weather causing me to put a hand up the shield my eyes, I turned away momentarily locking my door after I took a deep breath, then soon heading off into a job I never really liked.

Approaching the tall building that had large golden letters plastered above the doors saying, 'Arc Corporation' As soon as my foot hit the floor a girl a few inches taller than me came running almost at me with a small file in her hands, "He is upstairs waiting for you, I'm sorry the original person in charge of this had called off unexpectedly she had gotten sick or something." she waved her hand and looked at me her eyes full of panic. "These are just things you're going to have to do for him for the rest of the day until possibly 5 A.M. tomorrow but don't worry you get lunches, dinner, and even coffee breaks" she smiled sweetly, and I groaned shaking my head softly regretting even showing up.

"You're lucky I'm the lead of the floor." I looked her up and down. "I only came in because I thought we needed something fixed on the books." I snatched the file from her hands and headed to the elevator leaving the girl in disbelief. I casually pressed the button for the top floor as I opened the file reading the contents 'make sure you are respectful and kind, take this seriously he is our boss.' I shook my head boss my ass I thought. He is probably a stuck-up little brat sitting on daddies' money.

The elevator dings indicating I made it to the bosses' floor, as soon as the doors opened I walked through the abundance of cuticles and made my way to the only office with a black door and gold trim, I turned the nob not bothering to knock and walked into the room. The back wall was covered with glass to show off the city's scenery, the right and left walls covered in bookshelves that had books I've never seen or heard of, someone shifted and my eyes darted to a round glass desk with a single monotor on it, with an office chair on wheels that didnt make a noise as he stood up. "Have you never heard of knocking?" his voice was low and rich.

"I have but when I'm put on the schedule when it is supposed to be my day off, I really don't consider it." I made my way over to his desk setting the file on the table and slipping off my grey cardigan folding it over my arm, "where can I put this?" I realized he was facing away from me looking out the window, I scanned the room and set my cardigan on a small sofa across the room facing the right wall.

"They just wrote in hours without notifying you?" he turned toward me and i was taken back by his eyes hazel green, his shoulders broad, I took a step closer to his desk looking him dead in his eyes.

"Yes, but I do not expect you to fire anyone on my floor, we make sure your building stays secure and you get what you need when you need it, the girl who is second in command already has her consequences coming." I was leaning with my hands on his desk getting closer to him, his lips full and pink, his jawline strong with some stubble, I made my eyes up to his hair that was a deep brown with a fade, some of it slicked back but small pieces still made their way to fall onto his face.

" I didn't think that was up to you. I just think that everyone deserves a day off, you live in New York city a place where sometimes it's rare to get a day off, I'm trying to figure out who's bright idea to have the lead up here as a replacement for some sick bitch." He turned his chair sitting in it so he was facing me, he leaned back crossing his legs, I watched his suit began to strain against his arms as he crossed them.

"I don't exactly mind, I get the hours and I get paid, at least I showed up," I looked away from him standing straight up and walking towards the window looking down at the people as they walk in their clumps, I sighed and leaned my back against the window. "How hard is it anyways to spend an entire day nearly with you." I grabbed my phone from my pocket looking at the time it had read 10:37 A.M.

"Well, have you eaten?" he stood up once again rolling his shoulders softly. "I won't allow you to go starving if you haven't quite eaten anything, have you even had a coffee." he paused looking at me and I shook my head softly, he sighed. "Don't feel too special but I will take you out to breakfast, but you will need to step up and take me to lunch and dinner," he gave a soft smile.

"You don't need to, I can make it through the day, but a coffee would be nice." I watched him look at his Rolex and sigh.

"No, I haven't even eaten." he made his way to the door, and I followed a few feet behind. "Come, I'll take you to get breakfast."

I had no choice but to listen, he held the door open and i nodded smiling softly, he walked close behind me, people in the office watched us turning whispering things to one another, he got closer as we walked up on the elevator. he groaned reaching ahead of me pushing the elevator button. As we stood next to each other I glanced over noticing how he towers over me, i quickly looked down and as soon as the doors opened, I quickly got inside going into the left corner he went into the right corner. "Sir?" A woman walked up in a black tube skirt with a tight white button down.

"What do you want Liz." his voice was blunt, aggressive. "Didn't you call in sick?"

"Yes, but I decided to come in anyways." she starred me down and I starred right back

"Well, sorry sweetie but it's a little late, I got written in and you got crossed off, take it as a day off." I stood straight up pressing the button to the bottom floor. "If he was concerned, he would've called you, don't you think?" She stepped into the elevator as the doors shut.

"I really don't think I asked you, now did I?" she looked at the boss for approval. "Are you going to let her step all over me?" He shrugged and her fake smile fell, and she looked at me. "You deserve to be fired, who is your floor lead?"

"I'm the floor lead." I smiled softly and looked at the boss. "Where would you like to go for breakfast?" The elevator doors opened and i brushed past Liz.

"I prefer Tim Hortons actually." his voice was nice and calm. "Do you mind walking?"

"No, not at all." I decided to walk next to him, and he glanced at me, "I'm sorry for what happened, I just don't like the women in the building who are like entitled to things they don't deserve to be entitled for."

He chuckled softly and opened the door for me as we walked onto the street. "Honestly, I have been wanting someone to step on her for years." he walked quickly.

I didn't say anything after that I just continued to walk as he cleared a path for us to walk through the clumps of people, but any other time I would be pushing through people but if they see someone in a suit who looks like they fight for a living they move. I sighed to myself and kept up with him as much as I could, we turned onto another street and eventually saw the Tim Horton's sign.
