It was midnight already, and while the whole world snoozed, I waited at the reservation counter for them to give me my room key. I had been standing there for two hours and because of some 'confusion' they were unable to give me the key. I impatiently tapped my foot and glared at the room reservation list in front of me. Angry Liv was nothing compared to sleep-deprived Liv. Yes yes my name is Liv. Typical name huh? And the ideal joke with my name has happened millions of times.
"Hey Liv, live life!" Let me tell you, when your name is not Liv it's funny. When your name is Liv, it's horrendous. I was going to scream at the man with the funny red bonnet any second now and I didn't care about the people sleeping in their rooms. It wasn't fair that I hadn't received my room while everyone else slept peacefully. Travelling halfway across the globe just to get inspiration for writing was tiring. I had landed in Madagascar months ago but a slight delay kept me there. Now I was finally in Los Angeles and was going to Hollywood the next day, well actually today since it was 12: 30 am.
"HEY! RED BONNET DUDE-"
"Ahhh here is your room key. You shall find your room quite pleasant actually but know that you will be sharing it with somebody." I glared at him as he spoke in his heavy French accent. That explained the bonnet. My skinny jeans were killing me and the black sweater was starting to suffocate me and my boots were giving me shoe bites and this man had the guts to tell me that I would be sharing a room with someone?!
"Fine! Gimme that!" I snatched the key from him and stormed to the lift lobby. The hotel was nice and all with its fancy chandeliers and comfy sofas in the hall but I didn't care. Clearly this hotel didn't have any respect for its guests. I punched the green, glowing 13 on the number panel as I waited to reach my floor. I hurried to my room, 13-99, and twisted the bronze key. I slammed open the door, if that was even possible, and dumped my heavy bag on the floor.
"Angry?" A short plump girl with wide eyes and huge, red lips asked. She was wearing her nightgown but didn't seem sleepy. In fact, I could hear the tv. I'd ask her about her late night tv watching habit later.
"No. Sleep Deprived." I answered curtly as I went to the bathroom to wash my hands. The bathroom wasn't nice. It had a small shower room and a toilet bowl and a sink but it didn't exactly reek 'welcome to a five star hotel'.
"So what brings you here?" She asked, in a light, wispy voice.
"My legs." I answered.
"You're funny. You're going to get along great with my brother." She laughed. You've got to be kidding me. There was another human in my room? Ugh great. More social interaction.
I pushed past the girl with dreary eyes that shot open as soon as I walked further into the room. The room was nice and all but looking at 5 other teenagers my age in the same room really bugged me.
"I'm sharing a room with five of you?" I asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
"Hi! I'm Roselvelt and you're really pretty! You've got great red hair; so soft and coppery!" I felt totally weirded out now that she was touching my hair and sniffing it.
"Stop that." I said softly, pulling away. They were being creepy.
"You have blue eyes! Cool! We all only have red eyes." One of the guys said. Wait. Did he say red?
"You have red eyes?" I asked, scoffing.
"Wanna see?" It turned out that their eyes seemed normal; grey but normal so that meant they were wearing contacts.
"Maybe later. I'd like to sleep."
"Sure! You sleep. We don't usually sleep so..." Roselvelt said. They don't sleep?!
