"That's even better," you reply, your voice filled nearly to the brim with enthusiasm.
Theme music casually fills the elevator. A few moments pass before Freddy inquires, "What is the place you had in mind?"
"Well..." As if on cue, the elevator doors slide open.
"Ah."
You make your way out of the elevator before facing him. "I was thinking of something a bit more fun for today." You gesture towards him. "Care to join me, Mr. Fazbear?"
He chuckles nervously, taking a step back. "Well, I do have to perform today, and- I would love to accompany you, but I am afraid I-"
It's your turn to laugh now. "C'mon, Freddy, it won't hurt you. Who knows, maybe we'll be able to figure out how to fix your little programming bug."
"By prompting it..."
"We won't know until we try, now will we?"
The lie couldn't be any more obvious, you thought- but it seemed to have worked, since Freddy, after appearing to have given it some thought, gives up and nods quietly, following you outside the elevator.
When you arrive at the dance floor, you notice the DJ sound asleep. The first time you came across him, you were apprehensive to an abnormal extent due to the sheer size of this music man, but you found that Freddy was correct- he is such a nice fellow.
You gently approach him and place your hands on the substantially larger hands drooped over the stage. "Hey, DJ. Long time no see."
He slowly lifts up his head to look at you as he wakes, and although he doesn't physically contort his facial features, you can tell he's giving you a welcoming grin.
He turns to look at Freddy, who seems to be quite a ways behind you and the dance floor. The DJ gives him a friendly, animated wave.
Freddy waves in return. "It has been some time, old friend."
The music man tilts his head in amusement- a way to signal his understanding of the other's minimal visits- before turning back to you.
You pat the larger's hand. "Do you mind if we take the dance floor for a bit?" Almost immediately, the DJ slowly shakes its head. A lively beat starts to fade in, surrounding the arcade, and you give him a grateful nod.
You turn back towards the metal bear, who already seems to be losing control, seemingly involuntarily tapping his feet to the rhythm, despite not even being on the floor yet.
With a soft laugh, you approach him. "Shall we?"
He looks away, almost as if he was... shy. "I am not sure..."
"What's with the stage fright?" You quip lightheartedly.
Then he gently takes your hands in his. The glow in his eyes when they focus on you is distinctly brighter than before.
"If I continue, I will not be able to hold back."
You shake your head and smile. "Then don't hold back." At that, you pull him towards the dance floor.
The music kicks in, louder than before. Seems like the DJ understood perfectly what you were requesting- sly dog-, because so too does the metal bear's little glitch kick in.
As if you booted up one of his performance programs, Freddy finds no issue smoothly blending in to the beat as he quickly loses control. His dancing, not to your surprise, is polished and clean- aside from the overall inner turmoil his face portrays-, but, just like on stage, there's something intriguingly not robotic about his movements.
You find yourself laughing and joining him, moving absentmindedly to the tune's upbeat tempo along with him. You notice him glancing nervously down at you from time to time- if you didn't know any better, you would think the bear was embarrassed-, but the longer the beat goes on, the more relaxed his facial features become as your enjoyment seems to put him at ease.
At some point, there's a content smile on his face as he finally lets go of any tension he's been holding in, and the energy of the music takes over. The bright neon streaks of light and thick clouds of smoke fill your vision as you lose yourself in the excitement.
Upon losing yourself, you don't notice the abrupt switching of the music.
So you don't lose yourself for long when a sizable arm wraps around your waist and pulls you away from your spot on the dance floor, and close to an equally sizable chest- with that familiar bright blue lightning mark.
You look up in surprise to see Freddy, who seems just as startled as you are.
"Freddy?" You stammer.
"I.. still do not have control. I apologize if I startled you."
As stunned as you are, you can't help but snicker at just how flustered he looks.
"I'm alright." You pause for a moment before giving him a curious look. "Are you sure this is still the bug acting up?"
He looks away again, sheepishly. "I did not know it would have a routine that involves a partner."
The music builds up in an anticipating manner. You pat his chest with one hand, and say, "Why not see what this routine has in store?"
He turns to face you, his gaze unwavering. He seems a bit hesitant, but his voice is steady when he replies, "If you would like to continue, I... do not mind."
An endearing grin crosses your features as you step back, taking his metallic hands in your own.
Just like the music, there's a vigorous feel to the way Freddy directs you in the dance. It's not hard for you to maintain his liveliness, moving energetically as you let the sound of the melody assume control while you're twirled and occasionally scooped up in accordance with the spirited routine. The music is far from graceful or classical, but Freddy remains just as fluid and as flawless anyways- it's almost mesmerizing.
The song ends sooner than you expected- a given, considering your job as a security guard has never garnered this much entertainment in a single experience.
At the final beat, Freddy dips you, and you find yourself out of breath, exhilarated, and in a fairly impressive final pose.
There's silence in the air as you process. As does he.
Then,
"That was fun, superstar."
There's a cheerful tone in that line, and an even more cheerful expression on his face. You give him a flustered grin.
"It was."
You turn to Music Man, who appears thoroughly pleased by his taste in music, made clear by his playful thumbs up.
Sly, sly dog.
