"Hi." Regulus breathes as he sits in the chair beside Maria's bed, softly reaching forwards and taking her hand in both his larger ones. She's sleeping softly, the same way she has been since Lily and James' wedding — three months ago. "I, uh—Lily and James are now fully moved into that little house you bought them at Godrics Hollow. They love it so much. And now it's just you and me here, officially anyway. Sirius and the others come and stay sometimes. Peter, Sirius and Remus are sharing an apartment in London. And Dorcas and Marlene bought a place near Marlene's parents house. Mary has a flat near the leaky cauldron so it's easier to get to Gringotts."

The tousle haired boy lets out a shaky breath. He's happy for their friends, he loves that they've got their own lives and their own shit to deal with. But he's still quite disappointed that he'll have to break it all to Maria when she finally awakens.

"And me. . .I. . .I've got this job." Regulus clears his throat, stroking her knuckles with his thumb. "And I'll explain it all to you when you wake up but it's pretty interesting, and it's dangerous. But when you start your auror training I guess we'll both be in danger twenty-four seven—I mean we already are." Regulus chuckles but it turns into a soft sob as he looks up at her face. "I'm so fucking sorry, Ria. I dragged you into this—I put you here."

Despite him not even knowing whether she's able to hear him he can't help but go off on a tangent. There's nothing else to do other than go help Mickey with some stuff.

"I did this to you." Regulus whispers, a tear streaming down his pale cheek. "And I'm so so sorry. I'm sorry for even telling you about that fucking horcrux which I haven't even figured out how to fucking destroy." He says, angry with himself. "I need you to wake up. Pomfrey's doing everything she can but it. . .i don't know when I'm going to be with you again—actual, awake you. Because this you is so boring to talk to." Regulus chuckles slightly before leaning forward and pressing his lips onto her forehead.

"Mr Black?" Madam Pomfrey knocks on the bedroom door and Regulus' face shoots up from in his hands, his eyes red and Poppy's heart breaks for the boy in front of her. "Come, I have something to discuss with you."

Regulus scrambles out of his seat and follows Madam Promfrey into the Potter living room where they sit facing each other, Regulus bouncing his knee anxiously.

"I may have found something that will work." Poppy states and Regulus' face lights up.

"Really? Holy—when can we try? She's been asleep for ages—"

"Regulus." Poppy sighs and Regulus' smile falls at her sympathetic expression. "Making such an advanced remedy could take weeks. Months."

"I'm willing to wait." Regulus states and she smiles gently at him.
