Lorelai Modrow had recently turned 13 and for her birthday, her parents got her a stunning ring. Why? Lor (nickname) was obsessed with fantasy stories, and this ring looked exactly like the one she imagined in her favourite story. The ring was made out of silver, with a red stone on top. Because of the story, Lorelai believed the ring would grant her a wish. So she made her wish. Of course, after having thought about what to wish for for several days, maybe even weeks.

Lorelai had just moved to a different town, with her parents and older brother. She actually didn't mind moving, because she loved meeting new people. But after living in the new town for a week or so, she got bored. After all, it was still summer break so she didn't have school. Making it almost impossible for her to meet other people and make friends. There were no kids her age living nearby. All of them were either her brothers age, 16, or just toddlers.

Exactly 17 days after her birthday, Lorelai made her wish. She spoke out loud "I wish to meet a friend who lives close."

On a random Sunday, Lorelai and her family were eating lunch together and saw a moving truck drive through their street. Lor immediately jumped up from her chair to see where it was going. "Lorelai, where are you going?" her mother asked while Lor ran onto her balcony to look at the vehicle. "I just wanna know who the new people are mum!" she shouted back. "Honey, you should finish your food first!" her mom replied. Lorelai returned back inside and asked her mom if she could meet the new neighbours after lunch. Her mom said yes and said that she'd go with Lorelai, so she could also meet them.

So, after lunch they went to the downstairs area to see who was moving in and in what apartment. Turned out it was the apartment next to theirs. They wen up to that apartment and knocked on the already open door.

A stunning woman walked to the door and greeted them. "Hi! I'm Lorelai, or Lor for short and this is my mom, Susanne" Lorelai happily told the woman. "We live next door" Susanne added, also excited, but not in the same jumpy way Lor was. "Well it's very nice to meet you, Lorelai and Susanne. My name is Niko, I'm moving here with my son, daughter and boyfriend." the lady, Niko, said. "Would you and your family like to come over for dinner tonight?" Lorelai's mom asked. Niko agreed and went beck to unpacking. Lor and her mom went back to their apartment.

Lorelai went to her room and threw herself onto her bed. She started reading in a new book her grandma had bought her for her birthday. She loved it.

As Lorelai was reading she realised it was way too warm in her room, so she went out to her balcony to continue reading. It was the middle of summer, so it wasn't weird that it was warm. She got comfy on her balcony and continued to read, until she heard a door open. She looked around confused, until she saw a boy appear on the balcony next to hers.

Lorelai's pov

As the boy entered the balcony, I was observing him. He looked tall and was skinny as could be. He had dark fluffy hair, it wasn't curly but neither was it straight. It was a perfect wavy. The boy turned around and looked really scared when their eyes met. I immediately looked away when I realised I had been staring at him.

I could feel his eyes al over me. Regaining my strength from the awkward moment before, I looked back up into his eyes.  His eyes were a beautiful shade of green, bright but not too bright because they didn't distract from the rest of his face.

"H-hi" I said, wanting to hit myself after. Why the fuck did I stutter? That's embarrassing. "Hey" he replied.

After a silence that lasted just a little bit too long, I decided to say something "So you're Niko's son?". The boy nodded. "What's your name?" The boy looked at his feet, shyly. "Raiden" he answered her. "I'm jealous." I replied. Raiden looked at me confused. "Of your name I mean, it's pretty and original. Mine's so basic and boring." I said, trying to get a conversation going. "Well, what's your name?" "Lorelai" I said. "But you can call me Lor" He looked at me, like he was inspecting me. He opened his mouth again "I don't think a name is boring unless the person behind it is boring, and you don't seem boring." "Thanks I guess?" His weirdly poetic reply to me disliking my name confused me, but I was also intrigued.

"Mhm" he said, or mumbled? "So your name's Raiden, you're Niko's son, which means you're coming over for dinner tonight. Uhm, how old are you?" I rambled on, now waiting for a reply. "15" he said, observing me again, "Let me guess, you're... 14?" "Nope" I said. "15?" "Also nope." "16!?" "Nooooo" I was shocked at him guessing I'm 16. "Want me to just tell you?" he nodded. "I'm 13" he looked kind of confused/shocked and his eyes met mine again. "Really?" "Yeah, really." he broke eye contact and said "Hm, you look much older, not to get me started on how you're able to keep a conversation going." "Thank you. I think. Well you'll probably love my brother then, he's 16 and well, you know, a guy."

I thought about what I said and it was just really weird. It sounded like I was trying to pass him onto my brother? Even though I would also like to get to know him better. He looked confused, and a little sad. "Alright.. see you at dinner, Lorelai." he said. "Mhm see you!" I said as the boy was already back inside.

No more Lorelai pov

Lorelai turned back a bit to get comfy again and continued reading her book. After meeting Raiden, even more excited to meet the neighbours and dine with them.
