Ashes

It wasn't long before I held on firm to the support I'd ignored.
For each time that I wake, I wave those words to bliss.
Hack, slash, into that forest I explored.

A spider's lies criticise the life that I led bored.
Wandering aimlessly, I walk into that web amiss.
Entrapped my mind, here it rests, praying to a vanished lord.

Time took from me faceless guilt, answers that piled a hoard.
It never gave back any of the lost pain I felt kiss.
Hack, slash, against the forest I had explored.

Draw for me a head unknown, face pressed against a sword.
My life exempt was none; from those eyes, I dive into the abyss.
Drowned my mind, here it rests, praying to a vanished lord.

From letters of falsehood and indignation came life's cord.
Pulling myself into Fate's embrace, I watch my own remiss.
Hack, slash, out of that forest I had implored.

Ablaze from the unknown that I had conceived, taken upon a wish toward.
If greed and hatred could be gained, then a cage of ash I dehisce,
As stolen lies had mesmerised, those that I would ward.
Free my mind here it lays on ash, the forest I had abhorred.
