Wings Of Fire - Break On The Horizon

Prologue

It was the middle of the night. Prince Jaguar was fleeing across the dunes. Away from his home. His family. He had made his choice tonight. Fennec had the personality of a sun baked lizard and he would never marry her, betrothed or not. He already loved someone else. Starcatcher, a Nightwing. Forbidden love, but his heart ached of longing for her. He heard wingbeats in the distance. Jaguar panicked, and buried himself in the sand. He heard talons thumping on sand. "The prince is missing! Send out more search parties! We must find him tonight!" Barked a Sandwing named Rattlesnake, who never liked Jaguar. "Stay here, we'll be back before the night's end" Jaguar heard him say in a softer voice . He heard them all fly away, and to make sure they were gone, he waited even more. Finally, he found that he had waited enough. Jaguar burst out of the sand, to find a small, one year old dragonet. He clamped his hand on her jaw, so she wouldn't cry out. He let go and said "Hello, my name is Prince Jaguar". She stepped back in shock, and bowed a very wobbly bow. "My daddy is looking for you" she exclaimed. "Well, how would you feel, if you're supposed to marry someone who you hate, when you already love someone else?" "Well that's not fair! Why would anybody have to do that?!" "Me. Please don't tell anyone where I'm at. I promise you, I will come back someday and reward you. What's your name?" "Topaz". Prince Jaguar flew off, leaving Topaz befuddled on the sand behind him. He soon was daydreaming about his love. Maybe they would have dragonets together. Will they ever be allowed back in the palace again? He would see her tonight. Tonight, his life would change...
