OUTLAWS - Part 1: History

"...and now we will be learning about the newfound abilities." the professor said.
Hearing that during a rather boring history class was definitely new. It caught all the students off guard. Abilities? They'd heard stories of them, but they never thought they were real.
"Hold on- aren't abilities just an old story?" Mariah pointed out.
Mariah had shoulder length ash brown hair with simple black stud earrings and glasses for her short sight.
"Well- about that." the professor responded, "while you might've heard stories about them as a child, they are real. As you all learned, humans used to live on a planet called Earth. The government has outlawed these abilities, and going near the material known as Gasterium is forbidden and against the law. It can result in life in jail, and even death..." 
He went on to explain the 3 ability types: Creation, Destruction, and Mending. All 3 abilities are outlawed, and anybody caught with them or any of the energy in their body is automatically a criminal, whether it was on purpose or not. The abilities can be passed down through generations, however some people don't obtain abilities from Gasterium, something to do with "dangerous consequences".

After class ended, some of the students went to the library to see if there were any books about these abilities. 
"Since we're all looking for the same thing, my name's Kai. And you?" Kai asks.
Kai has black and curly hair that goes down to the back of their neck.
They find out that in the group, there is a boy named London who has shoulder length dark brown hair. 
There's also Mariah, who was interested in the abilities.
There is a girl named Skye who has long blonde hair and jade green eyes.
And finally, there's a boy who goes by Felix. He has dark eyes and medium length black hair.
The 5 of them together start searching for a book that has anything to do with these abilities. After about 20 minutes of searching, they finally find the book they were looking for.
The title of the book is "Creators, Destroyers, and Healers." The book is beat up and old, and it seems like it might've even been written on Earth. But how would it have been written on Earth? They didn't know about the abilities.

The group designates Felix to take it home and read it when he has the time. He signs it out and quickly gets to his next class. Another boring lesson ensues, and all he can think about is the abilities. He wondered what the professor meant by "dangerous consequences". What would happen? Maybe the book would explain more. 
"Felix." 
Felix looked up quickly to see the math teacher looking at him.
"Answer this question please."
Felix had no idea what was going on. He looked at the board quickly and said, without hesitating "The answer is 17.2."
The professor looked down at him with a shocked expression on his face. "Well done Felix."
Felix's good luck had come in handy yet again. Felix had always had luck on his side.

After school, they all returned home. Felix rushed upstairs to his bedroom to quickly open the book and start taking notes. The book would take days to read, but he figured he could finish it in one or two if he just read over the key details. He opened the book to see the date it was written: 2023. So it was written on Earth. But how? The abilities weren't known until The End. At least, that was as far as anyone else knew. But what Felix saw next was shocking.
