The cool autumn breeze pushed its way through my hair and caressed my cheeks. Swallows chirped as the browned maple leaves fell on the school courtyard. School has officially reopened. Among the students, holidays were fun, but not for an introverted, lonesome nerd like me. Ambling toward the school gates, I closed my eyes for a brief moment and sighed. Time for another term of vigorous academics.

Heavy rain on my way to school. What a way for my day to start. After a treacherous journey on the slippery sidewalks, I have finally reached the school gates. The streets were filled with puddles, easy for someone to slip and fall or drench themselves in. I took a deep breath. How annoying, nothing goes my way, not even the weather. Even though I was carrying an umbrella, my hair was wet and my socks were soaked. I couldn't wait to change into my indoor Uwabaki and dry my hair.

Sunlight filtered through the windows into the classroom as I opened them. Fresh air with the scent of morning dew gushed into the room. I place a hand before my face to block off the sunlight. I put a fist up and leaned my face onto it as I continued to admire the view. I heard the distant clicking of boots outside the classroom. I closed my eyes and opened them before heading back into my seat.

All types of flowers from different trees fell from the canopy that covered the school entrance. Red petals, pink petals, yellow petals, violet petals— vibrant and brightly coloured petals floated downwards. It formed a myriad of colours that was accompanied by small spots of white, small, plain and simple flowers. A tiny yellow flower drifted before me. Lowering my gaze, I picked it up.

From the Writer: Hey there! Thanks for reading the first part of some of my story openings! I hope you enjoyed it!! As you can see, the title of the part is "School Settings (1)". It means that the story openings for this part are all describing the setting (atmosphere, weather, environment) of schools. This time, I have written about the weather in students' eyes. Although I can't guarantee a consistent uploading schedule, there should be at least one part in 3 months. (It's a long time, I'm sorry ;-;) If you think that I can improve on my story openings, please leave a comment! That's all for now, see you!
