The dark being arose from the test tube he was previously in , eager to complete his mission . " Tell me , what is my purpose? " Asked the grim being , knowing he needed a purpose. " Your purpose is to destroy Sonic the wretched Hedgehog , if you fail then you'll become useless to me . Am I understood? " Eggman said to the being as he was putting up his tools . " I see , and might I ask , do I have a name ? " stated the being , examining his surroundings curiously. " You're name shall be Shadow , a being of the dark . " Eggman said before leaving his lab .

" Hey Sonic! What're we doing today?" Tails asked his speedy friend. " Well we have patrol today , right Knuckles ? " Asked Sonic. Knuckles put down his weights , " Yup! Gotta make sure Eggman isn't attacking!" " You sure ? I mean the Doctor hasn't been active much. " Asked Sticks. " Yeah! Someone's got to protect the town of course! " Sonic said before dashing out the door. " Hey- Wait up Sonic! " Tails said running to try and catch up.

" See , nothing going on- " Tails started saying before a loud ! B O O M ! A dark being , black and red , emerged from the smoke of the explosion . " Everyone , get ready for a fight ! " Knuckles said , eager to show this 'punk' what it meant to mess up the town. " Wait , we don't know if they're violent , Knuckles !" yelled Sonic , stopping his hot-headed friend.
