It was a late winter day in the year 1977 with little flurry's falling from the sky as a 26 year old man who's life has been dedicated to this, may have finally found the one thing that he has been searching for, for the past 8 months. His name is Daniel is a tall and slim man, he has short messy brown hair and dark green eyes. This journey started when he was 14 when he came back home from a long day at school and was told by the people who he thought were his parents that they were not his real parents and that he was just dropped off at there front door when he was a baby. After he found that out he never seemed like the same person and all he would think about was who his real parents were and why they would do that. Once he was old enough at 26 his foster parents gave him a note that was written by his real parents who left him with it when he was dropped off. The note had a clue on it about where they were located at and how he could find them. So he told his foster parents that he would be leaving in the morning to go search for them, he hugged them and told them that he would be back one day and that he would try to contact them as much as he could. Then he left to find out the truth after all these years.
Now here we are 8 months later.
It's been a long and hard 8 months, he's been living in his car and a lot of hungry nights.
"It's been a long journey but I think I am finally here" Daniel says as he parks his 1971 Ford pinto in the driveway.
"I've dreamt of this day since I was a child" he said.
He knocked on the door of the address that was on the note. He heard foot steps move closer and closer to the door. His heart rate was through the roof and he couldn't believe that he finally found it.
The door was opened by a shorter stocky man, he has short combed back brown hair and light brown coloured eyes.
He looks at him and says " Son... is it really you?"
The dad hugged him as hard as he possibly could. Daniel replied "yes it really is Dad" and hugged him back with tears rushing down his face.
Daniel looked behind his dad and saw a women walking down the stairs.
"Mom?" He said.
"Daniel, you have finally made it after all these years"
The mom is tall and skinny, has long dark brown hair and dark blue coloured eyes.
"It's been a long journey but I have finally found you two!" Daniel replied.
"Well come in it's cold outside we don't want you to freeze!" The mom says.
"And would you also like some hot chocolate?" The mom adds.
Yes that would great, thank you! Daniel says cheerfully.
Daniel walks through the door and took off his old brown cowboy boots that his foster dad gave him as a birthday present when he was younger, Daniel walked up the stairs to the living room and sat down on the black leather sofa, and inform of that sofa was a large 90 inch tv with every channel you could ever think off, there was also a clear glass coffee table in front of the sofa with a nice little brown pot with some roses in it.
"Soo..." the mom says as she sits down.
"So what?" Daniel replied.
"Soo I know you have a lot of questions so ask away" the mom answered.
"Well, where do I begin?"
"I'll begin with why did you leave me at the front door of someone's house?" He asked.
"Well..." the dad said.
"We thought for your safety, that someone else should take care of you..." the mom answered.
"But why though. What was going on that my safety was in jeopardy so you had to drop me off at some random persons house and travel to the other side of the world just to keep me safe?" Daniel said angered.
"Well it's quite a long story..." the mom said nervously.
"NO! I didn't just travel for 8 months to a place that I didn't know even existed so I can meet the people who abandoned me when I was only 1 year old, just so you can say it's to long of a story to tell!" Daniel yelled!
"Alright. We'll explain." The mom said.
It started when I was pregnant with you and I couldn't work and Dad was working two jobs and we were struggling to get any money to pay for rent and food. It was a tough time and we knew that if we wanted to have a baby we had to make some
money so we could have a place to live and food to eat. So we started trying to make money some other way. We started doing stuff for a gang. We would deliver drugs and in return they would pay us. You would think it was a pretty simple job. Until the leader of the gang knew how good we were at negotiating with people and how it would come in handy with some stuff. So he offered us another job and he would pay us even more, you would think it sounded like an amazing opportunity until he told us what it was. He wanted us to be the people who took the calls when somebody wanted to buy some drugs. So we accepted the offer, and it was the worst decision of our lives. Our first call was with a guy just asking about what they sold and it seemed pretty normal, they said they would buy something and we said we would deliver it in a couple of hours. When the time came to deliver it we thought of it like any other time we did it, all we had to do was give the person what they bought and they gave us the money. We knocked on the person door and a cop opens the door, our hearts drop. The cop said we were under arrest with possession of illegal substances. When he brought us to the jail he put us in an interrogation room and knew that we were working for someone bigger because they have caught people doing the same thing before around the same place. The cop said he would let us out if we told him who it was, and we knew we had to tell the truth, it was for our own sake and your sake. So we told the cop who he was and what the gang was and in less than a day he caught them all, and we were allowed to leave, but when you think it's a happy ending it all turns up side down. A couple months go by since that happened, I gave birth to you and we were a happy family, until we turned on the news one morning and saw that there was a breakout at the prison, and it was the same prison that the gang was at. We knew that they were coming for us so we had to leave our house. We packed all of our bags as quickly as possible and left. We knew that they would never stop until they saw us on the floor dead, and we didn't want you to be in danger so we had to make the decision that was the hardest decision of our lives but we knew that we had to do it. So we went up to someone's door step and dropped you off, after that we left to go as far away as possible, and that's why." The mom answered.
"Oh my goodness, all this time I thought you were bad people and just abandoned me but you didn't... You did it to keep me safe." Daniel said.
"I'm just so sorry you had to meet us like this but we had no other choice. I just hope you can understand why it has to be like this." The dad said.
"Yeah I understand and I understand everything now, why you dropped me off, why you travelled to the other side of the world and why you didn't want me to meet you until I was older so I could understand everything." Daniel replied.
"And we thank you for actually travelling up here just to meet us, and I know you might be pretty tired so we have a room up stairs that we set up for you. Go check it out!" The dad said.
"I will say I wouldn't mind a nice long nap right now!" Daniel replied.
"Alright just go up the stairs and turn to your left and it should be right there! And have a good sleep!" The Dad said
"And oh you almost forgot here's your hot chocolate."
The dad adds.
"Oh thank you!" Daniel says as he takes the hot chocolate.
Wow! This is maybe the best hot chocolate I have ever had! Daniel says after he tastes the hot chocolate.
Alright well you go get some sleep I know your tired and we will wake you up when dinner is ready, we're having tacos! The mom says.
Alright thank you so much and I just want to say that I love you guys and thank you for everything even if I thought it was for a bad reason.
"Well we Love you too and you don't understand how happy we are you see you!" The mom said with a tear falling down her face.
Daniel hugs them both before he runs up stairs to his room with tears of happiness falling down his face. He lays down on his bed and closes his eyes finally knowing that all of his questions have been answered and he can finally sleep in peace.
The End
