The First Date

Here I sit in my chair on a silent evening, nothing but the sounds of button pressing on my laptop can be heard in my bedroom.

 I turn my attention away from the article on the screen my eyes shifted to the clock. It's already 8:30 p.m..

"Yaaaawn, this is enough studying for today.." I tiredly exclaimed as I stretched out my arms.

I closed my notebooks and set them aside, placing them in the right corner of my white painted wooden desk.

With my study session over, I stared blankly into the screen in front of me, my stomach gurgled as nervousness washed over me.

This is the day, I'm definitely going to ask her out.

It's been three weeks since "that" happened.

I never would have expected it.

I'm not that charming, my grades are average, I don't play instruments, I'm not rich, and I'm not physically fit, I feel like I'm way out of her league...Yet she still liked me back.

Why? I snapped myself out of that thought to avoid overthinking, I opened a new tab on my laptop and opened facebook.

My eyes instantly shifted to her profile picture. Slowly and hesitantly, I dragged the cursor to her name; Charlotte Lasmine.

Just from her name you could tell just how elegant she was.

It's beautiful, she's beautiful.

I clicked on her name and her chat box appeared.

I smiled warmly as I back read through our conversations. Her heartwarming greetings and "how are you" messages never fails to put a smile on my face.

And after five minutes of chuckling as I back read through our silly conversations about school works, I finally mustered enough courage to say what I wanted to say. Taking a few deep breaths, I began to type my message.

Jamez
Hey, Las! Good evening!
-Sent at 8:36 p.m.

Okay now let's just wait for her to reply. Just after I finished my thought, a green circle appeared next to Lasmine's profile picture. Oh man, this is it..

Lassy
Hey James! Whats up?
-Sent at 8:36 p.m.

That was quick!

My heart began to beat faster, my chest tightened as nervousness washed up over me.
I took a few more deep breaths to calm myself down even for a little bit.

After taking deep breaths, I neatly placed my fingers across the keyboard as I contemplate on how I should ask her.

Yo, Las! I was wondering|

Hmm.. no, too casual.
I pressed down on the backspace button harder than I should.

Good evening, Las! If I may|

..Ugh no, that's too formal..

I deleted the text yet again.

Ping!

Before I get to type my next presumably failure of an attempt, Las sent another message.

Lassy
James? You there?
-Sent at 8:37 p.m.

Ugh, now I'm making her wait! Okay, okay hold on.

Without thinking, I quickly typed and sent a message to assure her I was here.

Jamez
Yeah, what's up?
-Sent at 8:37 p.m.

Pausing to read what I sent for a second, I realize what I just sent.

I placed both my elbows on the board, both hands covering my face as I groan stressfully.

"Oh my god.. just kill me now.." I sulked.

Ping!

Oh great, what did she send?

I took a peek in between my fingers to see her message.

Lassy
Wdym? You greeted first.
-Sent at 8:37 p.m.

"Uugh, great, now she's confused..." I murmured underneath the palm of my hand.

Taking a deep sigh, I went back to typing.

You know what? I don't even care anymore, I already fucked this up.

Jamez
Ah sorry, I mean... uh, I have something to ask..
-Sent at 8:38 p.m.

Looking at the chat board, I saw three dots in a waving motion appear, signaling that she's typing.
Suddenly, the nervousness I dropped before suddenly came crawling back at me.

Lassy
Oh! Yeah, what is it?
-Sent at 8:38 p.m.

OKAY! Okay!... I got this! I'm a grown ass 17 year old... teenager, I can ask a girl out, it's not that big-a deal!

Jamez
I was just wondering

If you would like..

To go on a date tomorrow evening?

-Sent at 8:39 p.m.

I DID IT! I DID IT! Please god, don't make me regret this!

My hands caressed my black curly hair as I start regretting this idea, multiple thoughts came to mind.

What if she says no? Will we still be the same tomorrow? Will she stop liking me?

...

What if...

Ping!

My eyes quickly darted towards the screen as soon as the sound of the notification entered my ears.

Lassy
Sure! What time and where are we going?
-Sent at 8:40

...

I was speechless, to be more specific, I was dumbfounded. I stared blankly at the screen in front of me, re reading that same text over and over, pinching myself so hard it left a red mark on my cheeks.

Oh. My. GOD!

I stood up from my chair and slammed both my hands on the table.

"NO WAY!" I shouted. A huge wave of relief and happiness washed over me as my heart beats faster than ever.

Suddenly, I felt my legs turn to jelly, as if I lost balance of myself, I sat down on the chair.

Wow... no way..

I snorted, smiled, laughed. 

 Still haven't moved on to the fact a girl just accepted my invitation to a date.
"Hehe, no way!" I softly yelled happily. A refreshing warmth built up in my chest.

This is the first time someone's agreed to go out with me...

After collecting my cool, I started typing on the keyboard.

Jamez
How about after school? I'm thinking we should go to that coffee shop you've been talking so much about.
-Sent at 8:41 p.m.

I leaned back on my chair, my hands still attached to the keyboard as I await her reply.

Lassy
Alrighty, dont be late this time, okay?
-Sent at 8:41 p.m.

I chuckled upon reading that text, it's true, I tend to get late most of the time.

Jamez
Right, right, I won't be late, you can count on that.
-Sent at  8:41 p.m.

Lassy

Haha! Okay, okay, I'm gonna go sleep now, it's almost 9p.m, goodnight and see ya tomorrow!~

-Sent at 8:42 p.m.

Jamez
Alright, goodnight, Las, See ya tomorrow!
-Sent at 8:42 p.m.

Closing the Facebook tab, I opened a new tab and went to google.

There's one more research I need to do before going to sleep.

I clicked the search bar and ever so gently pressed the caps lock button.

After my talk with James, I scrolled up and stared blankly at the screen of my phone, at the message in front of me.

"I was just wondering.. If you would like to go on a date tomorrow evening?" I read out loud.

I buried my face under my pillow, squealing.

"I CAN'T BELIEVE ITTTTT! HE ASKED ME OUT!!" I screamed for the whole world to hear.

My god, I really can't believe he asked me out, it's not like him to be that brave too.
What should I do? This is my first...

Wait..

At that exact moment, I jolted up as a sudden realization came up to me.

"WAIT!" I yelled. Quickly standing up from my bed I dashed my way out of my room and into my roommate's.

Running through the living room, stomping my way through the white tiles and passing through the different types of furniture.

I made my way towards Tammy's door, decorated from bottom to top with glitters, pink tapes, star stickers and a sign in the middle that says "Tammy's room, KEEP OUT, LASMIE!"

I payed no attention to the sign and slammed the door open.

THUD!

"TAMMY! BITCH, WAKE UP!" I rushed to her bed, shaking her shoulders to wake her up.

"Wha.. huh?" Tammy said in a yawning tone as she scratches her long messed up dark hair.

"HE ASKED ME OUT!"

"W-who did?"

"JAMES DID!"

"Huh- wait he what!?"

"WHAT DO I DO!!?"

Hey, what's up fellas, I hope you liked this chapter, this is my first time publishing a story in like... 10 months? Maybe even longer, and I just got back into writing a week ago so I'm very rusty.
This is also my first time making my own characters since I used to write fanfictions in a certain anime.
