OWEN POV

I shoot the ball.
swish
Nothing will help. I've got this person on my mind, and he just can't piss off.
I slam the ball down. Damnit, Landen, leave me alone.
LANDEN POV
I close Minecraft. Enough grinding for the night. That's what she said. Ha.
I run my fingers through my hair. My brothers are screaming upstairs. "Landen!" Nathan opens the door and yells down, "Wanna go on the tramp with me and Vegas?" I sigh, "yeah, give me a minute." It's hot in the basement, and I honestly can't wait to get out of here.
OWEN POV
I can't clear my mind. "Mom," I call, "I'm going for a run." Before she can stop me, I'm out the door and into the crisp autumn air. I run for a while, and I start to get hot. I stop near the school park and take my shirt off. I take a deep breath. I want to stop now, but something inside is telling me to keep going. Soon, I'm going past Pump & Pantry...
LANDEN POV
Me and Nathan and Vegas are outside on the trampoline, doing tricks and whatnot. Vegas does a double full, which further proves my point that he's the coolest fourth grader ever. Nathan tries to do a single full and almost breaks his neck. Proving mg point on why Nathan is the lamest third grader. I stand up in preparation to do a flip, and I hear footsteps and deep breaths coming from the street. I bounce high enough to see the top of Owen's head. "I, uh, I'll be right back." "Dude where-," Vegas yells after me, but by then I'm already gone.
OWEN POV
I pause in the alleyway. Why does this place look so familiar? I chew on my lip.
Wait a second.
That's why.
The something inside me that told me to keep running also lead me to Landen's. I roll my eyes and shake my head. As I go to turn back, I hear footsteps coming from where I just was. Was somebody following me?!
I patted my pockets, desperately searching for a weapon in case my worst thoughts were true. Well, those aren't my worst thoughts...
Anyways.
As I'm patting my pockets down, the stalker slows down in front of me. I look up, expecting to see a ugly old man with a machete.
Instead, I'm met with warm hazel eyes and a familiar smile.
Him.
LANDEN POV
Owen looks stunned, like he was expecting me to be an ugly old man with a machete or something. "Hey Owen," I look down, "um, so..." I'm normally not this awkward, even around my crushes, but seeing Owen like this, his messy hair and sweat-glistened body, I... "Hey Landen," Owen replies, "what are you doing here?" I blink a few times, and try and hold the thoughts for later, "I, uh, live here." Owen shifts his weight back and forth from his heels to his toes, "Oh, yeah, you do live here, that's right." I feel my eyes shift from his face to his toned abs. My face is getting hot, I can just feel it. Owen glances down at his body. He knows, he has to.
OWEN POV
Surprised as I am, I don't dislike the feeling of Landen staring at me. I mean, this isn't exactly how I imagined it. I guess my fantasies are way more vivid and... passionate. On the current situation, I'm puzzled. We always have so much to talk about, why is he so quiet? I shift my weight from my heels to my toes. "Um," I stumble, thinking of a conversation starter, "is there something you wanted?" Landen snaps out of his daze and scratches his nose, "Oh, um, no, just..." he stares at my ear, not even glancing at my face, "why are you running by my house?" I bite my lip and blush a little. "Oh," I laugh a bit, "I just..." 'Needed to get you off my mind. I can't stop thinking about you. You're all I want and more, all wrapped up into a perfect little shell of a person. Day and night, during school and during practice, when I first wake up to when I fall asleep. It's you, Landen, it's all you. You're- "Owen?" Landen saves me from my mind and brings me back to this reality. "Oh, uh, right, sorry," I shake my head, "I was gonna say that I had somebody on my mind and it just..."
LANDEN POV
Somebody?
SOMEBODY?
I don't even hear the rest of what Owen has to say. I bet it's a girl. Probably Ava. Or Ari. Or Raegan. Probably even any girl, actually.
I doubt it's a guy.
I doubt it's me.
Why.
Why would it be me?
Owen's not gay.
Is he?
No.
He's very religious.
Then again, so am I.
I look down and swallow hard.
(Ha.)
"Somebody?" I mutter.
Shit.
My rage and sorrow finally got the best of me.
"Oh, um, yeah, I mean he..."
OH.
MY.
GOD.
