Chapter 1

Book 2 in the Alpha King Series

"Colton" I say and watch as both of the boy's heads snap to mine. I look at Xavier and watch his face crumble "I'm so sorry that it had to come down to this." I take a deep breath and fumble with my hands, Oh how I hate this, "but I choose Xavier" I finish. Xavier looks up just as Colton storms off. I stand there and feel two arms wrap around my body, oh why did I do this. In the past 24hrs I have managed to screw everything up. I didn't want two mates, I wanted one who was made for me. I know deep down though that I made a good choice and that I won't regret choosing Xavier.

I push Xavier away from me and watch as his face flashes hurt, I instantly feel bad. "I need my space right now" I say and walk out of the room and up the staircase. I push open a set of doors and walk straight into my closet, I strip out of my clothing and put on dark blue ripped shorts, a 'My Chemical Romance' band shirt and a pair of black sandals. I take my hair out of the bun and look in the full length mirror. I don't like the girl that stares back at me so I grab my purse and storm down the staircase and out the front door.

I open the front door quietly and take a step inside the manor, closing the door behind me. I turn around and start to tiptoe up the staircase, I hear someone clear their throat from behind me. 'Shit' I turn around slowly and look into Xavier's green eyes and smile, "Hey Xavier". His arms are crossed and he looks beyond tired, "Mayla Mount, where have you been all day it's 12 at night?!" He says. I turn back around and continue walking up the staircase, "Where do you think your going?" He asks, I chuckle and reply "bed". I turn and start to walk to our bedroom when I feel a hand on my arm, "fine, but can you at least take your hood off?" He says and I look down, "I'm okay," I say and look up at him. "May please, you know the rule", I sigh and pull it down and look at him as his eyes widen. "May?! Your hair" he says and plays with a strand.  "I know isn't it great" I say "it's pink" is all that he says before unlocking our bedroom door. He turns and leaves and I finally get to sleep.

Xavier's POV

I sit at my desk with my phone on speaker. "I don't know what to tell you Xavier, maybe she's distancing herself as a coping mechanism. I would just let her be for now." My best friend Anna the Vampire Queen says.

"Anna I'm thinking about moving to the werewolf city, the penthouse I'm looking at is only ten minutes away from Colton's castle instead of an hour, like the manor the manor is. What do you think, I mean it could also be a good change for May." I say and hear her sigh before she speaks, "honestly Xavier, that sounds amazing just talk to her when she wakes up and then take her on a tour. You know so she can see what the apartment looks like. She'll love the idea of going house shopping with you, trust me."

I nod my head and lean forward resting my elbows on the desk and placing my head in my hands. Seeing as it's 2am I'm in light grey Nike sweatpants and a plain white tee. "So Anna what's going on with the whole take over the werewolf kings kingdom thing coming?" I ask and wait for a response. "Oh that, you see I was never actually going to invade it or do anything for that matter. I just wanted a reason to be around Colton again." She says.

I lean back and stretch my legs underneath the desk, "now that May's out of the picture who knows what will happen" I say. "Hey Xavier, I have to head to bed. Call me tomorrow, night." Anna says and then I hear a click. I place the phone down and stand up, heading towards the door and up the staircase. I quietly push open my bedroom door and walk over to the bed. I see May laying there, her now pink hair falling behind her beautifully. She's curled up in a little ball, I pull back the sheets and climb in beside her. I roll over so I'm facing away from her and close my eyes.

Mays POV

I wake up and roll over to see that Xavier isn't in the bed with me, that's cool. I do see a folded up piece of paper though, I pick it up and unfold it. 'May, I'm afraid that this house is too big for us. I'm going to look at a beautiful penthouse today, come with me?'

My heels pitter patter down the staircase, my red plaid skirt and white buttoned up shirt tucked in neatly. I come to a halt at the bottom and turn to see Xavier in a fitted black suit "I'm still not use to the hair" he says. I smirk and start towards the front door "I love it" I say and take a step outside. "I love it too, I didn't mean for it to sound like I didn't because I do". Xavier says.

We pull up in front of a tall white apartment building, except this wasn't just any apartment building. No it was the nicest apartment building I've ever seen and it's in the dead centre of werewolf city. Xavier extends his hand towards mine and clasps our hands together. We walk into the apartment building with Xavier leading me where to go, since I obviously have no clue where to go. We take a step inside the lobby and I notice an elevator straight ahead, the walls are white and the floor tiles are white. Actually the whole building seems to be white except for the code of arms behind the front desk which is off to the right of the entrance. "Come on May" Xavier says and I feel a tug on my hand as I'm being pulled into the elevator. "We're you day dreaming?" He asks and I look down "no just looking around" I say and look up and stare at the elevator doors.

All I feel is sad and numb, why me. Why did I need to be the one who got stuck with two mates and needed to pick one or the other. I turn around and glance at Xavier who with his free hand has his iPhone 6 in his hand. He's typing away like crazy but he looks up and smiles at me and then with his other hand which is still holding mine, he takes his thumb and starts rubbing small circles on the back of my hand. He continues this until his phone starts ringing and as it does the elevator doors open.

I look at him as he answers his phone and let's go of my hand "It's the castle I need to take this. Walk around and tell me what you think about the place, alight babe?" I smile and look at him, his face lights up when he sees my smile "yeah that's fine".

I sigh, and look around. The ceilings are super tall and there's massive windows everywhere. The walls are white and the floor is dark oak hardwood. The kitchen branches off of the kitchen and is located in the right corner of the house away from the door. I don't need to look any longer because I know that this penthouse will be our penthouse.

I feel two arms wrap around my waist and a soft kiss being planted on the top of my head. "Colton called and told me that he's stepping down from the thrown since he isn't able to be king because he doesn't have a mate. May, I was offered the position of King. All I need to know is if you want to me to be king and if you'd like to be my queen". I turn around and kiss his lips "Xavier," I say as he pecks my lips. He admits a low growl "Yes Mayla" he says and attacks my lips "stop talking, we'll talk about this whole-" I'm cut off by him kissing me again. I pull away "King and Queen thing after we buy this penthouse."
