Bee picked a red rose from the stunning rose bush swirled and wrapped around the first building of the land.
Although the boy couldn't see the colour red very clearly, something drew him towards red roses. Maybe it was her. Sammy. Sam. Oh how Bee adored the other individual. Her fluffy teal hair, prominent freckles that dotted her soft cheeks and bending over her nose bridge. Her bright blue eyes that always had a sparkle to them even if the individual was feeling down. Bee loved every inch of Sammy.
The young boy was snapped out of his daydreams by soft hands gently cupping his cheeks. A familiar face smiling at him. Bee didn't know how one person could look so perfect. He just wanted to stare into those sparkly blue eyes forever, until they were counting each other's silver hairs. He wanted to count every freckle that spotted her skin.
"Hey there buddy." Sammy spoke gently. "You have that look on your face, what are you thinking about?" Taking her hands away from the boy. Bee missed the touch almost instantly.
Bee just giggled, pushing the red rose into the others hands. "Oh nothing, just someone special."
This caused Sam to raise an eyebrow, looking down to the rose. "Oh yeah?, it better be me."
Bee scoffed, "What? It's definitely not you, you're just the idiot that I tag along with." He joked, Sammy jokingly frowning, but when the boy blinked everything was different.
That same "joking" frown, but the eyes that Bee adored were covered by a white bandana. Her har was no longer the fresh teal colour, it now being a faded and darker, even hints of yellow showed from not being cared for. Bee would to anything to help the other re-dye it again, and plait it maybe even including Sammy's favourite red roses through it.
Sammy was covered in crusty, dried blood. Bee reached his hands out, just to reassure the love of his life that it was okay, to take her inside to the warmth, they both could drink tea together and she could tell him everything. They could bake cookies, cuddle until their hearts were content .
But of course things just couldn't ever work out the way he wanted them to.
Sammy was being pulled away from his reach, the chilling screams she let out. Bee didn't know humans could let out such screams. She was balling her eyes out, he wished he could wipe her tears away, check if there was still a small sparkle in her ocean eyes. Sammy called for him, and he couldn't even move. His legs didn't allow him to go and rescue his darling.
Bee woke up gasping for air, trying to pull his arms up from being trapped underneath all the steams, moss and tree roots holding him down. He cried out for Sammy. Loud sobs escaping from his soft lips. He called and called out. Hoping that maybe Sammy was looking around for him. Hoping that Sammy could come rescue him from the grasp nature had on him.
A familiar feeling on his cheeks. Bee immediately stopped pulling himself up, he lay still, shocked he started up at the familiar but also unfamiliar God like figure floating above him, their hands on Bee's cheeks as they softly questioned him in a almost demonic voice, "You have that look on your face, what are you thinking about?".
