Face to face

{as planned the next day Dylan's sister turned two and Dylan's parents spent half of the day setting up for the party that evening and had him running around doing errands or making sure Janice wasn't getting her hands on the party favors. Soon enough the back yard is full of guests and kids running around dylan stands near the bounce house making sure no children were vomiting or getting nose bleeds. From across the yard he can't help but look at sky and her father laugh and talk, he takes notice to how happy she looks and how pretty she was, for a split second they make eye contact but is quickly interrupted by Dylan's parents}

Mrs.Martinez: mijo we need you to run to the store for birthday candles your father forgot them this morning

Dylan: what why me? send tia Nancy

Mr.Martinez: we can't she's already drunk

Dylan: this is a two year old's party right?

Mrs.Martinez: just do what we're asking you, pero I don't want you to go alone

Dylan: fine, I'll go with Freddy

{Freddie who is in the jumper, jumps over the safety net window}

Freddie: sorry Dyl we're about to have a wrestling competition can't leave now

{he rolls his eyes}

Dylan: right then, then who?

{Mrs.Martinez thinks for a second and calls sky over, she takes notice and reluctantly gets up and starts walking over}

Dylan: mom no please no

{before he can bargain or plea she stands in front of them awkwardly}

Mrs.Martinez: hi sweetie do you think you can go with Dylan to the store to pick up birthday candles

Sky: oh well I-

Mrs.Martinez: I really appreciate it here's a 20 and you two be safe okay, thank you mija I'll let your dad know

{Dylan's mom walks away and sky turns to Dylan who is standing there awkwardly she takes a deep breath and sighs}

Sky: let's go then

Dylan: right.

{the leave the party and start walking towards the store, they walk next to eachother silently and awkwardly.}

Dylan: so how's it been?

Sky: um fine

Dylan: still dating that asshole?

Sky: real mature Dylan

Dylan: just asking a question

Sky: yes we're still together, there happy?

Dylan: not perticulary since like that said asshole did like ruin our friendship and you picked him over me so.

{sky stops and her face fills with anger and she turns to face Dylan}

Sky: you know nothing about him so why don't you just shut up? Do you ever consider maybe you're being the asshole?

Dylan: me? What the fuck sky I'm not the one who choose a relationship over someone they've known since second fucking grade! What happened to us always being there for eachother.

Sky: don't even start with that when YOU were the one who couldn't be happy for your best friend when she's finally found someone who makes her smile!

{she turns and continues walking, Dylan's stomach sinks and he doesn't move and watches her walk forward without him}

Dylan: what about me?

{she stops}

Sky: what?

{he walks towards her}

Dylan: I said what about me, what about the person who's been there for you since day one, the one who gave you my jacket when you lost yours the one who who stuck by your side through everything, what about me.

{he stops at her and they're face to face to eachother}

Sky: you. You should go home, I'll go to the store.

{he looks at her sadly and nods and turns around and heads back to the party
