Ch 51

A week later

Carol: "please wake up, love. I need you. Lizzie needs you. Your mom needs you. We all need you"

Alex eyes slowly start to open

She starts to cough which catches carol's attention

Carol: "Alex! Oh my god"

She hugs Alex

Alex tries speaking but can't

Carol: "hey don't try speaking, please. You're only going to hurt yourself. Stay here I'm going to get bruce okay"

Alex shakes her head

Carol: "it will only be for a couple of minutes I promise"

She kisses Alex's forehead

Carol: "I'll be right back"

A few minutes later carol walks back in with the doctor

Bruce: "good to see you are awake alex"

He talks for a bit

Bruce: "once your throat completely heals, you will need vocal therapy and speech therapy. It will take some time though. I'll give you some privacy"

Carol takes out a small notebook from her pocket and gives it to Alex along with a pen

Carol: "since you won't be able to talk for bit just write it down okay"

Alex nods

Carol kisses Alexs cheek

Carol: "love you"

A week passes

Carol: "how are you feeling love?"

Alex: "I feel alright. My throat hurts a lot. How's Lizzie?"

Carol: "she's doing well. She made this for you"

Carol pulls a crochet wolf out of her backpack

Carol: "she learned how to crochet in art class so she made that for you as a get well gift"

Alex smiles

Alex: "I love it. I can go home today right?"

Carol: "Yes you can"

Alex: "I can't wait to see Lizzie I really miss her"

Carol: "she misses you so much as well"

She kisses alex's cheek

Carol: "do you need anything love?"

Alex shakes her head

Carol: "water?"

Alex shakes her head

Alex: "i'm good"

Carol: "tell me if you need anything"

A couple hours later

They just arrived back at the house

Carol: "and we are now home"

She opens the front door and they walk in

Carol: "lizzie we are back"

Lizzie runs into the room

Lizzie: "mom I've missed you"

Alex smiles and nods in agreement

Carol: "hey be careful"

lizzie: "right, sorry"

Alex: "it's alright"

Maria walks in

Maria: "Alex"

She hugs alex

Maria: "I've missed you so much sweetheart"

Alex: "I've missed you too mom. Can i have some water please...my throat is dry"

Maria: "sure I'll get you some"

Maria and carol walk to kitchen talking

Lizzie: "did mom give you the wolf?"

Alex nods

Alex: "I love it lizzie. I'm impressed you made it"

Lizzie smiles

Lizzie talks to alex about school when all of a sudden there was a faint meow

Alex: "What was that?"

Lizzie: "the meow?"

Alex nods

Lizzie: "oh that was Goose"

Goose brushes against lizzie's leg

She picks him up

Lizzie: "This is Goose"

Alex gets up and runs behind carol who was walking back ot the living room

Carol: "Alex, love what's wrong?"

Lizzie: "are you alright mom?"

Alex points at Goose

Maria: "Are you scared of the cat"

Alex nods

Lizzie: "why mom?"

Carol: "years ago when I first took alex to my old ship she met goose up ther. I guess there was a rat so his tenticles came out of his mouth and freaked her out"

Lizzie: "is it what he did with the pilllow when you first brought him?"

Carol nods

Lizzie: "but mom he's harmless"

Alex shakes her head

Alex: "I don't trust him"

Carol: "I'll make sure he's not around you okay"

She kisses alexs forhead

Alex: "babe I'm really tired, i want to head to bed"

Carol: "Okay, I'll help you get ready"

20 minutes later

Alex is laying in bed and carol is sitting next to her

Carol: "I'm going to change your bandages on your leg so it might hurt"

Alex nods

Carol removes the old bandages and cleans the almost healed stab wound on alex's leg

Alex squeezes carol's arm

Carol: "I know i know i'm almost done i promise"

10 minutes later

Carol: "do you need anything?"

Alex shakes her head

Carol kisses alex's forehead

Carol: "get some rest"
