It's been a week since Alice last spoke to me. Today's the 31st of December. Alice and I had a tradition of driving up the hill on every New Year Eve and sit down together with cups of hot chocolate and just talk and watch the fireworks at midnight. It was a perfect way to end the year and the best way to start the new one, right there with my best friend. But this year things would be different.. very different. Getting a girlfriend changes priorities i guess. Tonight Becca was dragging me to a party at one of our batch-mates house. I tried talking to Alice but no luck. Damn she's utterly pissed. "Joey, Baby we're gonna late! Hurry up and finish your shower please!" Becca's voice came over the sound of the water.

"Yeah just give me a minute!"

I closed my eyes and let the hot water rush over my aching muscles. I spent hours working out with Alice on my mind, I miss her. Why the fuck does she have this effect on me? She shouldn't. But she does. Everything used to great. Things were normal. Life was perfect before the night of Junior Prom. That night ruined it all for me.

*flashback*

"I can't believe it Joe! It's Junior Prom night and I'm here on a deserted road with you and a broken down car!" a 16-year-old Alice stood in front of me as i crouched down in front of the car. "You look gorgeous tonight." I said, trying to butter her up. She really did look beautiful. Since our prom was Disney themed she decieded to go as Rapunzel. She looked absolutely stunning. I lost the ability to talk when i saw her. "No Hardy, not working." she said.

I rested my head against the car bumper in defeat. I felt so bad. I screwed up her prom. I heard her footsteps approaching. She bent down and wrapped her arms around me from behind and placed a gentle kiss on my head. "I'm sorry I overreacted." I stood up and wrapped my arms around her shoulders while she wrapped hers around my waist. I rested my cheek on her head. She was so tiny, she barely reached my chin. "It's okay. I'm sorry too." i mummbled. She pulled away and sat down on the bonnet of the car. "How do you plan to get back?" she asked. "No clue." I said. "But don't you thin-IT'S RAINING!!" she yelped and jumped off the bonnet. "Alice get into the car!" I said. I got into the car just as the rain went from a light drizzle to a downpour.

"Alice you'll catch a cold! Get in please!"

But nooooooo Alice being Alice stood in the middle on the road twirling in delight. I sat behind the driver's seat with a smile on my face as i watched her having the time of her life.

Suddenly i found the passengers door being ripped open.

"Thank you for final-"
"Shut up" she cut me off. I watched her what she was doing. She open the glove compartment and took out one of the CDs she kept inside and put it into the stereo. I recognized the song as one of her favourites 'Dancin In The Rain ' by Shane Harper.

"Get outta the bloody car would ya?!"

I sighed and followed her outside. (Play the song on the side.)

She grabbed my hand and led me to the middle of the road. I put my hands on her waist and she put hers around my neck. We started moving to the beat of the song.

It was a fast and peppy song that got us dancing perfectly in sync. It was almost as if we could read each other. The rain drops fell around us as we spun each other around. As the last chorus rolled in Alice moved back and started spinning and dancing. Once the song finished 'Crazier' by Taylor Swift started blaring from the speakers. Alice spread her arms and faced the sky with her eyes closed,letting the raindrops roll off her face. I chuckled at her childish behaviour and leaned against a tree. It struck me how beautiful she looked standing there with her eyes closed and raindrops and moonlight reflecting on her smooth and gentle features. I noticed the song coming to an end. I immediately moved forward, grabbed her hand and pulled her towards me. Her eyes snapped open as she silently studied my expression.

'You lift my feet off the ground.'

I wrapped my right arm around her waist,draped her left hand on my shoulder and held her right hand in my left. I lifted her,effortlessly. Her eyes widen a little but she didn't say anything, just went with the flow.

'Spin me around.'

We spun around,not breaking the steady gaze of our eyes.

'you make me crazier,crazier'

I started singing along with the music. A faint smile rested on her lips. 'I wonder how they taste.' my mind said.

'Feels like I'm fallin and I, I'm lost in your eyes.'

I dipped her low with my arms wrapped securely around her. 'Well lets find out.'

'You make me crazier,crazier, crazier...'

I pressed my lips against hers.

*Alice*

...............he pressed his lips against mine. He stole my first kiss.

The ringing of my phone snapped my out of the flashback. I stumbled acroos the room still dazed by the realness and clarity of that memory. It was burnt at the back of my mind, refusing to fade and making me regret our decision of not wanting to ruin our friendship with a relationship. "Er.. Hey Percy.. A party? Where? Hey I'm not really in a mood for...urgh okay fine.. I'll see you there in an hour... Buhbye." I hung up. There was party these guys were dragging me to. I didn't want to go. At all. I just wanted to spend Nw Years Eve like every other... With Joe. I sighed and push that jerk out of my mind. I don't want to think about him. He doesn't deserve a single thought from me. I hurried and got dressed before locking the house up and got into my car.

When I reached the party was already in full swing. The minute I stepped inside I was attacked by Leo. "You came!" he cried happily. "You guys didn't gimme a choice." I grumbled. "Aw cmon you know you love us."Leo said. "Yeah we just didnt want you alone on New Years." Percy explained,handing me a drink. "I know. Thanks guys." I forced a smile on my face. My eyes searched over the sea of faces looking for one person. "He's in the garden." Percy said. "I wasn't looking for Joe." I covered up. "I never said Joe." he smirked. "Asshole." i muttered under my breath. "I heard that!"

"You were meant to!"

Annabeth came and dragged Percy off to the dance floor. It was already 11pm. I spent the next hour dancing with strangers and drinking.

I was standing outside in the balconey when i heard someone yell over the mike-

"COME ON GUYS LET'S START THE COUNT DOWN!"

I closed my eyes as they started counting
