Y/N'S POV
I couldn't stop thinking about that cookie I met back in the forest, but I also couldn't stop thinking about what F/N told me. "I heard that he works for the evil Dark Enchantress Cookie!" Then I remembered what Licorice Cookie told me. "I practice forbidden Black Magic. Someone like you wouldn't understand." I repeated it a few times before I finally decided. I took a quick trip to the library to pick up a few books on specific magic. "Why, hello-oo Y/N! What brings yo-oou here today?" hooted the bookseller. "Hello, Mr. Bookseller! I'm just here to check out a few books on magic." "Well, then the magic section is over that way! Do-oo take your time!" "I will!" I replied before heading over to where the bookseller pointed. It took me little time before I found the books I needed on the history of light and dark magic, so I brought them back over to the front counter to check them out. "O-ooh, history books, I see? And what's sparked your interest this time, may I ask?" "Just a meeting with a strange cookie that's got me thinking." The room was silent after that, but it wasn't long before it was broken again as the bookseller was saying his goodbyes. "Have a go-ood day, Y/N!" "You too, Mr. Bookseller!" I replied before I left the library. I hurried over to my dorms where F/N was thankfully asleep, I didn't wanna have to explain to them why I checked out history books on light and dark magic. I snuck into my room as quietly as I could and shut the door, so that I could read the books without having to hear F/N's snoring. After reading through the books, I came to a surprising conclusion.
The next day
I tried taking a nature walk to clear my head, but I couldn't stop thinking about what I discovered. It didn't take long though to realize that I strayed too far from the path and had gotten lost. This looks nothing like Dragon Hill... I thought to myself. The sky was no longer a soft blue, and instead was a light pastel red and purple. The grass was a very muted and desaturated purple, and the trees beared no leaves, seemingly dead. The enemies were certainly a surprise as well. Druids around almost every corner, and spiky poisonous mushrooms with legs always caught me off guard. There were even cake hounds that I had never seen before, taking the style of a pomegranate fruit. I eventually found a place to hide from the enemies and catch my breath, when I accidentally rammed myself into a familiar face. "Watch where you're going, you-!!" he stops. "Oh, it's you." I look to see Licorice Cookie sitting in the grass in front of me. "Oh, hello again Licorice Cookie!" I said to him. "What are you doing here? This isn't the type of place a cookie like you should be in." "I was just taking a walk, but I must've gotten lost." I respond. "In the Tainted Forest? Sure." I could hear the passive aggressive sarcasm in his voice from that comment. So that's what this place is called.. My train of thought was broken when he spoke again. "Why are you really here?" "I told you, I got lost while on a walk!" "Whatever you say. Just watch where you're going next time." He was about to leave when I stopped him. "Well, why are you here?" "Why does that matter to you?" He whipped his head around to face me with a questioning look. "Just wondering." He was silent before he answered again. "Just taking a break from my absolutely HORRIBLE colleagues! Ugh, I can't stand them sometimes! ESPECIALLY Pomegranate Cookie!" Pomegranate Cookie.. isn't she another one of the Cookies of Darkness? "She's always on my case about everything! Licorice go do this, Licorice don't do that, it's infuriating!!" I listened to him ramble for what felt like a while, and I couldn't help but feel a smile forming on my face. For some reason, his voice was almost calming in a way, despite his current tone. That's when my mind started wandering again. Licorice Cookie picked up on this and stopped talking. "What's got you so silent?" He asked in an almost teasing tone. "There is one thing that I've been thinking about for a while today." "Well, spit it out." He replied as he sat down. I thought for a minute how I was going to begin speaking. "Well, have you ever thought about the difference between light and dark magic?" "I'm sorry, what?" He questioned. I took that as my sign to continue. "I mean, think about it. You can use dark magic to fight just as well as light magic, you can use dark to defend yourself or others just as well as light, you can revive just as well, and so on so forth. You can tailor both to your preference and create your own spells with them, too. They were both created to be used, so why is one so frowned upon? Because of its name? Sure, one of them is 'more corrupt' than the other, but that doesn't change the fact that they were both created to be used, and yet one is so frowned upon just because of its name. So, what's the difference? Personally, I don't think there is one. In fact, I'd be so bold as to say that they're exactly the same." I looked at Licorice Cookie when I finished speaking, and he never replied for a solid few minutes. He just sat next to me completely flabbergasted, with a face acting like he just saw a ghost. He continued to sit and stare into nothing before he finally spoke. "To be honest, I never really thought of it like that." "I didn't either, not until today." I replied. He then spoke again in a surprisingly snarky tone. "I never knew that you could be so literate." He said playfully. "Well, I never knew you could be a good listener!" I snapped back. "Hey! I can too be a good listener!" He replied before playfully punching me in the shoulder. We laughed for a little bit before he stood up. "I should get going. Gotta prepare to get my ears chewed off by Pomegranate Cookie for 'staying out for too long'." "She sounds annoying." I replied. "That's because she is." He replied. "See you later, Y/N." He said before leaving. "See you!" I answered back before he was out of hearing distance. I sat in place for a little bit thinking to myself. For a cookie of darkness, he doesn't seem that bad.. The sound of barking broke my train of thought, suddenly remembering how much of a dangerous place the Tainted Forest was. But then I heard a different sound. Almost like... another cookie? I peaked from behind my hiding spot to find the source of the noise, and what, or who I saw surprised me.
FINALLY DONE. Very sorry this took so long to get out, but I finally finished it!! I'm also working on another crk x reader, so look out for that too 😏
