"Keep up you big- Fucking- JUST KEEP MOVING!" The girl kept moving forward, finding themself stopping every several steps to look back at the one that helped her get out.
"NNGRRHG!" The large boy growled at the girl, trying to pick up the pace a bit more to keep up with their more agile partner.
"No arguing, just hurry before the wailing lights turn on again!" Without hesitation, the girl would run back, grabbing their hand and trying to pull them along with her, the smaller one's feet not making as much progress as she'd hope for.
They both ran down the barren halls together, making their way to what they would hoped to have been an exit. They had no clue where they were going, but they didn't want to stop and think, the once dark halls would start to flash bright red as a deafening wailing started to go off.
The large one would start to panic and whimpering fearfully, but the girl didn't want to waste anytime seeing as the guards were likely already hauling ass to get to them. Without thinking, she would just reach up and smack the other as hard as she could, seeing a few others do that as well.
To her surprise it worked in getting him back, the hulking frame glancing back for a moment and booking it, almost barreling into their partner. She was about to run, but seen herself suspended off the ground, looking down to the scaly appendage she seemed to have forgotten about the other in their time running.
"I can't believe I am actually managing to get out of here with a mutant." Exclaimed the girl, seeing the scary group of Wardens approaching, she patting the tail that was wrapped around her to encourage the other to pick up the pace.
They just grunted affirmatively, crashing through what seemed like a barricade of sorts, various scraps of debris falling to the ground as they ran. She was so glad to have been assigned quite literally the strongest one they were able to keep in this facility as a partner, or mate as they wanted to call them.
She remembers getting back onto her feet, hoping to make it easier for him to break through barriers, or to knock off people that tried to pile onto him. It all happened so quickly, a lot quicker than she was used to. And as much as she would like to admit, this wasn't very hard for her, it was just worrisome seeing as she felt the need to keep the other safe as well.
She would prevent them from being dragged down by extra weight, and make sure to stay close to them. Despite feeling the need to protect them, she was too scared to be too far from the other. The behemoth felt the same, constantly looking at the other, making sure they didn't get too far while he ran through the waves of people clad on heavier and heavier armor.
Eventually, after what felt like an eternity to those two, they would make it through over several corridors, and down a multitude of hallways, they eventually made it to what seemed like a flight of stairs. They both were panting, looking back and seeing the horde of guards slowing their pace, refusing to get any closer to the steps.
The two would not question the decision of those that were causing them, instead they would just book it up the many stairs, for what seemed like forever, eventually making it to a small ladder with a bulky looking hatch, which the big guy would make short work of. With a breath, they would climb out onto the sandy ground, taking in the first bit of fresh air, noting it as intensely dry before running.
They didn't even look back to see where they would be running from, just making sure the already unrecognizable terrain became even more unrecognizable to them before the two collapsed from exhaustion, the dry earth now beneath them not doing much to cushion either of their falls.
Once morning came finally came around, the girl would waking up, admittedly feeling like shit after that night the two just went through. She rubbed her eyes, the sand she has slept on presumably not a very pleasant sensation for them. To her surprise she looked over at the other, expecting them to have ran off before she woke, but no, there they were, sitting a few feet from her, looking off into the distance.
"You sti-" Before she could finish that sentence, her throat started to burn as she went into a short coughing fit, the other actually rushing to the girl's side to comfort them as they almost hacked up their lungs.
After the girl could breath once again, the large one would gesture over to a slight warmth coming from a bright light off in the distance. Both absolutely amazed, the girl and the mutant boy would watch their first sunrise together, the two feeling a natural warmth as the rays of light reached out to the two.
For once, they didn't feel restrained, like they were caged, because now they were free of that facility. And whether or not they liked the idea, they felt a lot safer in each other's presence, so they made a silent oath to never leave each other's side.
They would just sit their for a little while, letting their minds wander as the rising sun would finally be high enough to be seen fully.
