Prologue

Rules. Even the place of sin and damnation has them. Despite it's reputation of being loose, lax and free of any moral beliefs, the rules are arguably more strict than Heaven's, even if there aren't as many. The reason being that demons have more to hide. More to protect.
More to fear.
Angels have the luxury of blending in more with those wretched humans. When Lucifer was damned and cast out of heaven, God wasted absolutely no expense on making sure it was known that the fallen angels were no longer property of Heaven. Cursed to stick out like an abomination the more they sinned and indulged in their very existence. Forcing them to cower in the darkness while the angels walked in the light, worshipped and yet still humbled by those beneath even them.
Because of His cruel humor, the darker race was hunted down and brutally slaughtered by humankind. Hence the strict rules; it was all they had to protect themselves and their fellow demons. But this is a story of breaking those rules.
And paying the consequences.
