A shrill cry echoed in the mist...

She was trapped, locked away in the dark, misty box. She was scared, cold sweat slid down her head as it dripped onto the wooden floor of the box. It felt like eons since she had seen the light of day. But as she was about to scream and cry for help...

"NO! DON'T DO IT!" She cried out as her body gave away and sent her tumbling off her bed. "Mph... Ow. That was the fifth time this week!" Charlie mumbled as she picked herself off the carpet.

"Charlie!" The orphanage keeper chuckled, opening the door.

"Did you fall off the bed again?" She asked as she ambled over to the bruised girl.

"Yes Mother Isabella..."

Charlie rambled on about how the nightmares were continuously coming, non-stop and how they were slowly drifting together, blurring into one whole nightmare.

Isabella giggled at how the small child, yet somehow full of energy, kept rambling on and on and said to her "Get dressed and come downstairs dearie, the foods getting cold."

Gasping at this horrible news, Charlie rushed to her wardrobe and picked out a white crop-top that said, 'Be Yourself', some blue ripped jeans and a black beanie. She dashed downstairs after getting changed and was greeted by the house maid.

"Good morning, Charlie! How did you sleep?" "Not very good... I had another nightmare." Charlie respectfully bowed to her and sat down to eat her breakfast l. Once she was done, she thanked the house maid and chefs for the meal. Walking out the door, she took a small stroll to the library.

Along the way, she constantly heard small whispers left and right, 'What do you mean Elijah?' 'No! I don't mean it like that! Why would you think that?' 'Ok, maybe your right...' She was confused but ended up at her destination. Then, she went to the bookshelf as her mind wondered on what to read. 'Maybe UNDERTALE? Or an Eddsworld comic?' 'Yeah, UNDERTALE sounds good.'

She picked out the book from the section containing the comics and manga that lay still, collecting dust.

Resting in the armchair placed in the corner, Charlie opened the book and started reading. Unconsciously,  she felt her mind slowly get pulled into a dream as if she was part of the book.

Long ago, two races ruled over the earth,
MONSTERS and HUMANS
One day, war broke out between the two races.
Death and despair were brought upon all who fought in the war.
Eventually, the HUMANS came out victorious.
Using magic, they sealed the MONSTERS underground, never to be seen again.
Many years later...
