2.1

In the two months that Nathan has been with the team, he and Letty had grown the closest. Neither one of them actually realizes that they are slowly and deeply falling in love with each other.

The team arrives at the race before spreading out throughout the crowd. Two girls walk over to Nathan as he leans against Dom's car talking to Dom. Letty notices the girls by Nathan before feeling a surge of jealously. Dom walks away from Nathan as Letty walks over to him.
"Rowrrrrr... I smell," Letty says as she walks up to Nathan before she sniffs the air. "skanks. Why don't you girls pack it up, before I leave tread marks on your face?" The girls quickly walk away as Nathan looks at her in slight shock.
"Letty, I was just talking," Nathan tries to explain as he holds his hands up in surrender.
"Yeah. Whatever," Letty says as she walks to stand beside Nathan while Dom walks back over to them.
"Okay, Hector," Dom says as he sees the man walking over to them.
"Yeah? What's up, bro?" Hector asks as he shakes his hand.
"Yo. What's up?" Edwin says as he walks over to them. "How we doing this tonight?"
"One race. $2,000 buy-in. Winner takes all," Dom answers him before handing his cash to Hector. "Hector, you're going to hold the cash."
"Why Hector?" Danny asks as he and Edwin hand their cash to Hector.
"Cause he's too slow to make away with the money," Edwin says causing the crowd to 'ohhhh'.
"Okay. Good luck, guys," Dom says as he goes to head to his car.
"Hey, wait. Hold up," Brian says as he walks up to them. "I don't have any cash. But I do have the pink slip to my car." Nathan shakes his head at his brother's stupidity.
"You just can't climb in the ring with Ali, 'cause you think you box," Jesse says as Nathan nods.
"He knows I can box," Brian says as he points at Vince causing Letty to hold back a laugh at the glare he earned. "Check it out. It's like this. I lose, the winner takes my car. Clean and clear. But if I win, I take the cash, and I take the respect."
"Respect?" Dom asks as the crowd laughs.
"To some people, that's more important," Brian says as he glances at Mia. Nathan smiles seeing as he had taught his brother about the respect part.
"That your car?" Dom asks before they all walk over to it.
"I see a cool air intake. It's got a NOS fogger system and a T4 turbo, Dominic," Jesse lists as he looks under the hood. "I see an AIC controller. It has direct port nitrous injection."
"Yeah. And a stand-alone fuel management system. Not a bad way to spend $10,000," Nathan says as he wraps an arm around Letty.
"You see that shit? He's got enough NOS in there to blow himself up. Period," Edwin adds as he also takes a look, causing Nathan to shake his head.
"So, what do you say? Am I worthy?" Brian questions with a smile before everyone looks at Dom.
"We don't know yet. But you're in. Let's go," Dom answers before he starts walking over to his car.

Nathan and Letty are standing beside Hector, as he notices Brian drive past the starting line, having to back up. Hector gets the all clear from Leon before he raises his arms into the air getting all of the driver's attention. "Go!" Hector drops his arms before the cars are off. Dom arrives back first having won with the two other drivers behind him but no Brian to be seen.

"Here's what you won, right here. There you go," Hector says as he hands the money and pink slip to Dom. "You were racing a bunch of skateboards. Know what I mean?"
"My sister holds the money. Count it," Dom says as he walks over to them before handing Mia the money. Everyone is congratulating Dom as Brian finally shows up.
"Was that fun?" Jesse asks as he walks over to the smoking car. The others gather around as Jesse opens the hood and smoke goes everywhere.
"What are you smiling about?" Dom asks as he notices Brian smiling and shaking his head.
"Dude. I almost had you," Brian says pointing at Dom causing the crowd to laugh.
"You almost had me?" Dom asks him sarcastically. "You never had me. You never had your car. Granny-shifting. Not double-clutching, like you should. You're lucky that 100-shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake. Almost had me?" Dom walks around the car with the crowd cheering him on.
"You tell him, Dominic. Get out of here," The crowd yells as Dom comes back to stand beside Nathan.
"Now, me, Nate, and the mad scientist got to rip apart the block and replace the piston rings you fried. Ask any racer. Any real racer. It don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winning," Dom says as Nathan lowers the hood of the car while the crowd cheers.
"Oh, shit! We got cops. Cops! Cops! Cops! Go!" Leon yells from where he is sitting in his car. The crowd quickly takes off running. Dom and Nathan quickly get in Dom's car before Dom takes off. Once Dom is clear of the cops he pulls into a parking garage where he stashes his car. Dom and Nathan are walking down the street before a cop car passes them and quickly turns around.
"Toretto, stop right there!" The cop says over the speaker. Dom and Nathan take off running. "Toretto!" They are running down an alley when a familiar green car pulls up beside them.
"Get in!" Brian yells from the driver's seat before Dom quickly opens the door. Dom let's Nathan climb in before getting in as well. Brian takes off as the cop starts to catch up. Brian gets back on the main strip causing the cop to be taken out by another car. Two cop cars start heading their way before trying to make a road block but Brian just weaves through them.
"You're the last person in the world I expected to show up," Dom says as they all relax.
"I thought if I got in your good graces, you might let me keep my car," Brian tells him with a slight smile.
"You are in my good graces, but you ain't keeping your car," Dom says with a smile. "You drive like you've done this before. Are you a wheelman?"
"No," Brian answers as he shakes his head.
"You boost cars?" Dom asks already knowing the answer.
"No. Never," Brian answers as he drives causing Nathan to roll his eyes since Brian is lying.
"Ever done time?" Dom asks him another question.
"Couple of overnighters. No big deal," Brian answers as if it were nothing.
"What about the two years in juvie for boosting cars?" Dom asks as Brian quickly looks over at him. "Tucson, right? Nate ran a profile on you, Brian Earl Spilner. He can find anything on the Web. Anything about anybody. So, why bullshit?"
"So, what about you?" Brian asks as he glances at Dom.
"Two years in Lompoc. I'll die before I go back," Dom says with a frown before looking out the window. The car is then quickly surrounded by motorcycles. "Oh, great."
"What?" Brian asks as he glances at the motorcycles.
"It's going to be a long-ass night. That's what," Dom answers him as he leans back. One of the motorcycles gets close to the car before tapping on Brian's window with a gun.
"Follow us," The guy says before Brian follows him. When they stop in the parking lot of a restaurant, they get out of the car.
"I thought we had an agreement," Johnny Tran says as he turns to face them. "You stay away. I stay away. Everybody stays happy."
"We got lost. What do you want me to tell you?" Dom asks him with a shrug.
"Who's 'we'?" Tran asks as he looks at Nathan and Brian.
"My new mechanics. Nate, Brian, meet Johnny Tran," Dom says as he thinks quick on his feet. "The guy in the snakeskin pants. That's his cousin. Lance. So, when are you going to give me a shot at that Honda 2000 of yours?"
"This your ride?" Tran asks Brian as he admires the car.
"It was. It's his now," Brian answers him as he glances at Dom.
"No, it's not. I haven't taken delivery," Dom says knowing what they would do to the car if he said it was his.
"Then, it's nobody's car. But somebody put in the wrench time. What do you think, Lance?" Tran says as he runs his hand along the car.
"It's an amazing machine," Lance says as he keeps his gun pointed at them.
"Yes, indeed," Tran says with a smirk. "Let's go. I'll see you in the desert next month. Be ready to have your ass handed to you."
"You'll need more than that crotch rocket," Dom says as they get on their bikes.
"I got something for you," Tran says before they drive off.
"What the hell was that all about?" Brian asks as he turns to Dom.
"Long story. I'll tell you later. Let's get out of here," Dom says before opening the door. They all stop as they hear the motorcycles coming back. Dom closes the door before Lance and Tran start shooting the car. They duck out of the way. The car catches fire before they stop shooting and drive away.
"NOS!" Nathan yells as he sees the fire getting bigger. They take cover before the car explodes.
"So, what the hell was that all about?" Brian asks as they start walking away from the restaurant.
"It's a long story," Dom answers him.
"Well, we got a 20-mile hike. Humor us," Nathan says with a shrug.
"A business deal that went sour. Plus, I made the mistake of sleeping with his sister," Dom explains quickly. They are able to catch a cab before heading back home.
"Take care," Brian calls as he starts walking down the side walk after he, Nathan, and Dom got out of the cab. Dom and Nathan walk up to the porch before Dom turns back to Brian.
"Yo, Spilner!" Dom calls out as the blonde quickly turns to look at him. "You want a beer?"
"Sure," Brian answers before walking over to Dom and Nathan, who walks inside causing Letty to look up from her game with a smile, causing him to smile at her before he notices Vince playing guitar and Leon with a girl in his lap, all without a care in the world as to where Dom had been. Leon freezes as he sees the Dom, who starts making his way over to Leon.
"Yo, Dom. We were just about to go looking for you," Leon says quickly before Dom knocks his beer out of his hand. Dom makes his way over to Vince as Nathan stands beside Letty.
"Where were you?" Dom asks Vince as he sets the guitar to the side.
"There were mass cops there. They came from every direction. That shit was orchestrated," Vince answers him causing Nathan to roll his eyes.
"This your beer?" Dom asks as he grabs the beer in front of Vince.
"Yeah, that's my beer," Vince answers before Dom heads to grab two more beers. Nathan notices Jesse making out with a girl, causing him to smirk.
"Yo, Einstein. Take it upstairs. You can't detail a car with the cover on," Letty says with a laugh before following Dom towards the door.
"Yo, Dom. Why'd you bring the buster here?" Vince asks as he notices Brian by the doorway.
"Because the buster kept me and Nate out of handcuffs," Dom yells back causing Vince to shut up. "He didn't just run back to the fort. The buster brought me back." Dom turns to Brian and Nathan. "You can have any brew you want, as long as it's a Corona." Dom holds out some beers to Brian before he takes a beer as Dom hands one to Nathan. "That's Vince's so enjoy it." Vince gives Dom a 'really' look before they watch Brian clean the top of the bottle with his shirt then taking a drink.
"Hey, buddy. You got a bathroom?" Brian asks as Vince glares at them.
"Yeah, upstairs. First door on the right," Dom answers him. Brian disappears upstairs as Dom sits down while Nathan stands beside him before Vince walks over to them.
"He's got no call being up in here. You don't know that fool for shit," Vince tells Dom as he points in the direction .
"He's right, Dom," Leon says in agreement.
"Vince, there was a time when I didn't know you," Dom argues as he glares at Vince.
"That was in the third grade!" Vince says ending the conversation.
"Yeah. So, what girls are here?" Dom asks causing Nathan to look at Letty, who is already looking at him.
"You name it. You want mine?" Leon says causing Letty to roll her eyes. "I can get you one too Nate."
"You need to shut the hell up," Letty tells him before she walks over to Nathan.
"You look a bit tired. I think you should go upstairs and give me a massage," Letty tells Nathan, not liking how they were talking about getting Nathan with other girls.
"Look at all our guests," Dom says causing Letty to roll her eyes.
"How about you give me a massage?" Letty says in a stern voice before Nathan follows after her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. They pass Brian as they start to head upstairs while Dom stands up facing Brian.
"Yo, You know you owe me a 10-second car, right?" Dom asks Brian with a smirk.
"Oh, shit," Letty says with a laugh as Brian nods at Dom. Nathan and Letty continue upstairs to her room. Nathan closes the door before Letty pushes him against the door, kissing him.
